  • Need new tires, give me some input

So before to long I am gonna need new back tires, fronts are fine. I've been running on the Kumho Ecsta's the last couple years, which aren't bad. But I'd like to upgrade cause I have no problem overpowering them. I don't have money for suspension mods or anything like that, just would like some stickier tires. I was thinking of going with Nitto 555R's but I know they claim "up to" 15,000 miles. Probably depends on how you drive. I only need back tires, I would like the Nitto NT555 but they don't make it in a 245/50-16 for my stock wheels. I've also thought of going Yokohama's too. Any suggestions?

i dont have any tire suggestions, the F1s i bought suck. but i would advise upgrading to a 17" rim, theyll help in both handling and launching.

Well if you ever plan on getting a torque converter you'll want the Nitto DRs out back in order to fully take advantage of it. I have heard they last around 15,000 on daily driving depending on how you drive. I am going to run these on mine once I get them put on my rims. If you just want a decent street tire than BFs are a good choice.

555r will be good for your power. You will need to run them about 26-28psi or the centers will wear old fast. I run 22-24 and my centers are gone(darn 60mph roll wheel spins)

            totally agree ^

i love my BFG tires, any of their tires are great performers. my kDW2's are amazing. maybe look into some kD (dry) summer tires since you store the Z in the winter right?

those would probably be my choice

Yeah, it rarely sees rain, let alone snow. I've ran BFG's on cars for years, but never on this one, had Goodyear eagles when I bought it. I want something that'll grip good.

I love my hankook ventus tires. They hook good with my v6 and nitrous. not sure how they would hook with a v8.

v8s gotta lot more torque, so probably not good.

well if it's pretty much just a summer only nice day kinda car. i would highly suggest the BFG kD's. they're the "dry only" tire. it will hold just about anything you can throw at it

I say you go with the kDW2. I hear they hook just about as good as a street tire will ever hook

yeah well my kDW2's hook great (given it's a bit wider with a 295 in the rear) im just saying if it's a summer only car, mine as well just get the dry tires?
