those wheels jeff posted are freakin perfect! good suggestion.

DO NOT use factory steelies. There is no "attitude" about them, they just look bad. Steelies are fine, just dont use factory ones

Well I know for my car 15x8 = 5.5 BS, 15x10 = 7.5 BS Less BS the more the wheel sticks out from under the car.

Chrome is the best IMO on dark cars.

I like black rims if it's done right.

or here's another idea - wait for the 5th gen steelies to come out.

Well, keep in mind, that's $800 for just the tires. Most people have at least a few hundred into the rims, and several hundred into tires. I can save some money on rims and tires and still have a great setup that looks good, and I can put a little more money into the engine work, suspension work, various other aspects of the car that could use some extra attention.

I'm not really as much into the looks anymore, I just want a vehicle that I can be happy with. I'm working to make the car more capable in all aspects, performance, appearance, handling, etc.

Stock steelies are not an option, really, because I want them to look decent too, and for the price, I'd rather get a set of Cragar steelies.

And I agree, the set that was suggested earlier would look GREAT on my car. I'll definitely look into those. I wonder what the weight is on those?

Yep. That's why I'm trying to ensure that I can afford to buy some better tires than if I went with larger rims. . .

Anyway, I'm much happier to see that you are just talking about steel wheels nick, not "steelies" as I refer to the wheels on my car that are meant to have hubcaps over them.

Don't know if this will help at all, but here's a couple pics of my 3rd gen Bird. I have a set of 4th gen factory steel wheels that I will use to run Autocross, and use on the front when I go to the Drag strip. The next pics are with vette wagon wheels. I got the wheels cheap with good rubber, but the gray finish wasnt very good, and didn't go well with the car. So I shot them black.

do what makes you happy, this could be very interesting if you do things correctly and not the budget way. I will tell you, you must also be prepared for 80-90 percent of people to not give favorable responses, its just the way it is when you do something that has rarely been done before, especially when "murdering out" a fairly new car.

I'm not "murdering out" my car. I'm looking at doing a unique paintjob and using wheels that most people don't use on this type of car to accomplish an overall look/theme that hasn't been done before.

The paint scheme I'm looking at is going to be mostly flat black with some gloss black accents, the wheels are going to be black (don't know if I'll go with gloss or flat at this point), and the car is going to have some power to back it up.

I'm prepared for negative responses, but I have never been one to "go with the crowd", as you may remember, the hood I did for the Camaro met less-than-favorable responses here and on other online forums, but when it was done, I got nothing but compliments. I'm not going to do something that's completely hideous, I do have SOME sense of style, and I'm going to do what I think is going to look cool.

The fact of the matter remains, my car gets vandalized more than any other vehicle I've owned. I've come out of Wal Mart to find key scratches on my car that weren't there when I went in. My car has been egged. It has been bumped in parking lots, kicked, beer has been poured on it. I'm looking for something that looks good, but can also be fixed easily.

Like I said, I'm going to do what I think I'll like the most, and I'm definitely not in any hurry to get it done. I just want to be able to take the car to my duty assignment with me, wherever that may be.

Is that why you're putting the pink flames on your car Larry? Is that what makes you happy?
