  • Where to widenin' my stock rims?

I kinda want to keep my stock rims but i want to put 315's or 335's on them. I know i can't do it with 9.5" rims. So im looking at getting them widened to 11", Is it really worth widening my two rear rims or should i just buy new rims? i have 6 ws6 rims. 2 are drags and the other 4 are DD wheels. Should i just take the 2 drag rims and widen? Also, what cost would i be looking at for widening rims and where abouts can i get this done? West Michigan, Grand Rapids Area.

    Thanks guys

Couple of places on the east side...co-worker of mine just had two widened from 9s to 11s for $150 a wheel.

Make sure you'll be able to fit the extra 2 inches inboard unless you change your offset...that will be pricey...

Weldcraft wheels in Plymouth or Pontiac, i cant remember which. If you go out to 11" you will need to run a minor spacer in the rear

one more thing. Where can you go to get spacers done? I'm not really sure how to do it and where i would go to get the spacers and what is necessary. Can i just go to a local bodyshop/dealership or do i have to go to a preformance shop. or can someone get a step but step instruction? thanks..

First, Weldcraft is really good. But nothing is ever going to be as strong as the original rim. If you can buy ones that fits your application, I'd go that way.

As for spacers, you can get them at your local Autozone, or through Jegs or Murrays.

But make sure your studs are long enough to put spacers on...when I checked the 89 to see if it could handle spacers, the studs were too short...

Widening aluminum rims is a dangerous operation....aluminum is actually one of those metals that gets weaker when you weld it....especially the crappy cast stuff. I would get a new set of wheels the right size and get the piece of mind that comes with it.

no but they make an 11" ZR1 replica rim.. which is as close as you're going to get and the cheapest 11" wheel you can find (that still looks decent)
