  • need help deciding on tires asap

hey all. i need to buy some tires but am so lost. I need 275/40/17 and Im broke. My budy can get me the riken raptor for $400 installed. does anyone have any experience with these? Or can someone make a better suggestion. i can go as high as $525 installed. My friend will put them on for $50 if I buy something online. I have to make a decision in the next day or so. I dont go to the track so just a good street tire. thanks in advance.

A guy I worked with bought a set of the Riken Raptors in 18" for his 07 Mustang for road course wheels. He said the tires were pretty good on his first time to the track with them. I don't talk to him much anymore so I don't know if he's driven them on the street much or if he is running his stock wheels/tires. They're made by Michlen so I wouldn't think they'd be to bad. Definately better than Hankooks or Sumitomos or some other cheap Korean tire like those.
Check out General UHP's or Fuzion ZRi's. I had a set of General Exclaims on my Sonoma in 245/45/17 and loved them. I put a set of Fuzions on my wife's Alero but only put about 3K on them with her driving. I've heard others like them on F bodies.

If you have a membership at costco or sams club they have good tire prices. The tires are priced with install incuded too.

The raptors are what I'm going with. I'm getting them for $500 installed, which is still a deal. More than enough tire for me considering the size (I'm going from 225 to 275 and all-seasons to high-performance summer...), so I'm happy.

Just try to get the highest wear rating:cost ratio. I too would recommend staying away from Korean tires. I put Falkens on mine 3 years ago, seem to be pretty good.

I will be getting BFG G-Force Sport A/S on my camaro. They are $137 a piece, so it will cost me $580.88 for tires and install after taxes. These are Z rated tires too.

Tire Rack just dropped these to $106 apiece for a 245/50R16...both Belle and Discount Tire match Tire Rack...might be worth exploring...

Yeah but that price doesn't include intsall price. Costcos tires are priced with that included. Plus I will get free flat repairs, free balances and rotates.

If you add up the install cost at discount then I bet the price will be over $137, and putting nitrogen in them cost extra at dicount too.
                        Its free at costco.

I am on tire rack right now. The BFGs I am getting a G force super sport all seasons. Tire rack has them for $121.00 plus $14.95 for road hazard per tire. Costcos road hazard program is free with any of there tires.

Thats $576.43 with road hazard and tax inluded but no install.
$580 with install and free road hazard warrenty looks like a better deal.

Discount tire doesn't even show bfg g force super sport a/s on there website. Neither does belle tire.
