  • Hawk Brake Pads = Awesome.

A few months ago i asked everyone here what they thought was the best brake pad, and the response i got was Hawk HPS pads. I was having a major problem with brake dust with old brake pads. I have no idea what kind they were (came on the car) but I was having to wipe my wheels off every 25-30 miles. I ended up getting the hawks for all four corners on my car, along with new rotors. So far i have 140 miles on them including one really hard stop from about 65 mph (had to)... and i still dont see any visible brake dust. The feel is much improved as well.

edit: the only negative i noticed is that 2 of the 8 pads (inner front) required some slight trimming to fit properly.

Conclusion: Pricey, but well worth it.

paid $130 for front and rear through CS3 auto.

didnt take any pictures, they really werent much different than any other brake pad beyond a nice looking box.

I'm surprised you had to trim some of the pads. Good to hear that you are happy with them.

I put Raybestos (sp?) on mine and they have no problems with brake dust. The stopping is also way better than the AC Delco pads that were on the car.

I have never had a problem with break dust but the guy I bought my car from recommended this wax for rims that completely eliminates brake dust sticking and he was right!

I might give them a try this year. I have the Ceramic version, and I'm not happy with them. My rotors could be the problem. I had them turned, and you can see heat scorching where the pads rub the hardest. The rotors have 130,000 miles on them.

I was going to upgrade to C5 brakes, but the template I printed off is really close to rubbing inside of my wheels. The only way I'll know if they will fit for sure is going to be actually test fitting them. Will see if I get around to it this year.

I wax my wheels with regular wax and it definitely makes cleaning my wheels easier.

I hear ya on the ceramic brake pads. . .

I just did a brake job, replaced all four rotors and put new pads on all around. . . Don't remember the brand, but they were ceramics and the guy at the speed shop I bought them from said they were the best pads he sells. I'm happy with them so far, but only time will tell if they are a viable long-term choice for a DD. . .
