  • No sway bars?

Are our cars runable with no rear sway bar.. Will it be really bad to drive with out them.. I seam to have lost the nuts for the end links on them... So im just thinking i'll get new bushings and things but not sure when ill be able to get then.

Ive seen a thread where someone drove with a broke one for a while, but I dont thinks its recommended. I got my new endlinks at advance auto for like 10 bucks a piece I think.

Its going to put additional torque on your LCA bushings when your supsension twists. Tubular LCAs and/or Poly LCA bushings will make it more dangerous to run without a sway bar, however... i dont see any problems coming from it in the short run.

I drove without my front swaybar being bolted down for about two years. I never noticed it being unbolted when I did brakepad changes, but then again I never was really looking right at it until one day I looked over and noticed it wasn't bolted down. Then I went and checked the other side and saw the other side had the top of the bolt, but the entire bottom half of the bolt was gone, so the sway bar was just chilling in place. So yeah, it isn't THAT bad, but get new stuff sooner than later.

I remember when my friend's sway bar mounts broke on his '94 Sunbird...it made a lovely clunking noise whenever you braked or turned.

i have no front sway bar, i took it off i have a rather overkill rear one though, well it's not really a sway bar in the rear, more or less an anti roll bar from Wolfe 8-O

Haha, and I still have the same sway bar from Matt after I cracked my old one in half in my accident.

Anyone that does any drag racing more than likely doesnt run a front sway bar.. and like Matt.. a sway bar/anti roll bar in the rear is needed to keep you going straight when the car launches especially on unibody cars where theres plenty of chassis flex.

On an autocross side of sway bars, they limit the amount of body roll around corners. Do you NEED sway bars? no. Is your car going to handle better as a daily driver with sway bars? yes. Yur call man.
