  • Poll: Best 315 Tire for Street/Strip

Well, I did a little winter shopping for my vert. I stumbled upon a deal on some rims that I couldn't pass up, so I will soon be the owner of a 17x9.5/17x11 set of polished TT2's. Now I've been looking for quite a while at tires and I know there aren't many 315's out there. My car is only a summer car, and about 98% dry weather, sometimes waiting for good weather in Michigan to drive her gets old, so she gets wet once in a great while. And I will be going to the track a maybe a few times during the summer, at most probably once a month. Knowing that, I narrowed it down to two choices,

    Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
    http://tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?...e1=yes&place=0

    and BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD
    http://tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?...1=yes&place=12

So, which would you guys get, and if you want, why? Or which other tire would you get if not one of those two and why?

    Thanks,
    Nick

i got the gs-d3's on 275. AWESOME tire except on 60 foot times. Im only able to cut 2.0's on em.

They are excellent in rain. Im ~400 rwhp, i can spin em on the launch if i want but other than that, they hold traction up till redline in every gear.

      Check out my FQuick!

Those are DR's aren't they? Aren't DR's pretty bad in the rain. I saw those and thought about them, but I don't want to worry about driving on them when the roads get a little wet.

Nitto DRs and just drive reasonable in the rain and you'll be fine, street tires don't compare.

I have the Nitto 555 Drag Radials on the rear & Regular Nitto's on the front and I love em.

They handel well but I have never had them in the rain ever or to thetrack yet.
I do plan on killing them @ the track this year though

I have had BFG's and didn't care for them street wise, seemed to be "slipery" to me, no grip.
I have had Goodyears, liked them better.
I have had Summito's and they worked really well!
Good all around for street use & in the rain & not to bad at the track @ 18lbs.

Maybe I will go with the Nitto 555's then. I won't be driving that often on them in the rain, only once in a great while like I said. I can handle it, cause I'd rather have the better dry traction.

I added the Nitto 555 to the list for you guys to vote for now.

Any other opinions?? Right now I'm leaning towards the Nitto NT555R, which in itself is a little bonus because they appear to be cheaper than the others, even though that's not the concern.

Thank you, I really do appreciate it. I think I will end up just going with the Nitto's and give them a try. My rims will be here soon, and I'm getting excited. Anything will give better traction than the general's that came on the car when I bought it.

I have BFG Drag radial 315's and they work great. After hot driving they do tend to pick up lots of gravel, but that's what you get for being sticky. They're cheap too, about $150 a tire. I have BFG KD 275s for non-drag racing. They do feel "slick" until they warm up but when they do - amazing! The sidewall is stiffer than most tires since it is a performance tire. I have heard the Eagle F1s have a pretty soft sidewall and tend to roll over when pushed hard. No experience with Nitto, I'm partial to BFG.
