  • New rims...what tires?

Ok well as you guys..and gals....may know im gonna be getting the Black Z06 Motorsports rims for my car. i am thinking of getting the BFG G-Force TA kDW2 tires. i have had very good experience with BFG tires and am gonna continue to use 'em. anyways here's my question.

The rims are 17x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear.
what size tires should i get? i think i actually want to get a little narrower tires so that the sidewall doesn't buldge out so much. almost like the "stretched" look. im not talking about skinny rubber band tires. but im thinkin maybe 265's on the front and 285...maybe 295's on the rear? does anyone have any input for me? cause tires are not something im too good with. i know sizes and all... i just don't know what would look correct.

For reference, mine are 17x9.5 all the way around, 275/40/17s.

i know brian lol...that's exactly what i have now. so i know what the fronts will look like. that's why im thinkin maybe a 265 maybe 255 front tire to make the sidewall stretched a little so the tire sidewall doesn't buldge out at all

I'd say just stick with 275s up front and do 295 in the back, are those tires the drag radial version or wet/dry traction?

the kDW are just the DryWet "summer" tire. if i get DR's im gonna get them for my 10spoke chrome SS rims. oh and shaun....you need like a 17x11 rim for the 315's. and i don't want a super wide tire with that much traction until i get a 12 bolt. im skating on thin ice as it is with some stickier tires. one good dump with good traction, and i will have another helping of Gear Salad in my rear end. but if i get a moser...you better believe a set of chrome ZR1's will go on my car with the 17x11's out back with some 315 Nitto NT555R!!!!

also, i was thinkin a 265/40/17 in the front, just cause that's what the stock Z06 size is i think?

If you eventually gonna get the 7X11 ZR-1s then why not get them now and save some cash? I don't think that a 315 DR will be much different that a 295 DR, at least not enough to make the difference in your rear end.

cause the black Z06 rims are cheap as dirt. and i want a change. im sick of chrome rims on my car for now. i just want to switch it up. im sure next spring i'll sell those Z06 rims and get something else again. but yeah....blowing the crap outta my rear end is my biggest fear. cause it's gonna be a few bucks to buy that moser when my 3.73's end their tour of duty! lol..... Dave Lanitelli (SLP Dave) has a set of chrome 17x9 and 17x11's that i was thinkin of buying. but i think i'll try those next year

yeah im definatly not a "trend setter" lol seeing how black rims are the latest fad. and everyone has 'em...but hey i think it'll look really good too. since my car is all red and black. i guess the rims will be my first "appearance modd" seeing how my car is pretty much all "stock" on the outside...other than the CME exhaust

I think it looks bad ass with the front grill off, aside from the small holes it looks mean as hell and is a free mod.

Wow joel....great minds think alike. i've actually been thinking of doing that. except i might just buy a set of headlights that already have that... i think it's called the "whisper mod" but yeah putting my headlights in an oven to pull them apart is kinda sketchy to me lol.... i think i might look around for an aftermarket set of lights that are already blacked out like that.

Oh and Jeff. yeah taking the front grill out does look pretty good. but i already have the SLP (SS) front grill. so i don't think im going to take it off
