Well... Three questions about wonder bars.

1. Did 4thgens come with wonder bars?(steering braces)
2. If yes to number one are they interchangeable with 3rd gens... I know some parts are some aren't.
3. If they are interchangeable would any 3rd and 4th gen owners be interested in some?...

Im planning on making them how ever i can only by metal in a 20' stick.
So ill have mine then have about 6 extra... If anyone wants one.

I would probably sell them for $20 a piece.... If 3rd and 4th aren't interchangeable i might see if i can get some dimensions for them and build them for people if they would like.

But if no one wants one then ill just make it out of square tubing which i have a peice thats 35" and i need 33"

When I first read this thread, I could have sworn you were asking about Wonder Bras. I know my bird came with a Wonder Bra! LOL J/K. Can you tell I am tired?

4th gens have a totally different front suspension setup than 3rd gens. 3rd gens are the only ones that have the "wonderbar".

Lol well this only goes out to the 3rd gen owners then...Thanks for the info...

I've never been under the 4th gen to know how they are set up and i knew that rear suspension could be switched and things like that so i figured it was worth a shot seeing if it would work.

Any 3rd gen owners interested?

never heard of it either, maybe bc im a 4th gen guy.

It's a brace to tie the front frame rails together and is said to improve steering response under hard cornering. IROCs have them from the factory.

The wonderbars were created to keep the steering box from ripping the sheet metal on the subframe at the mount....this became a real problem once GM started making the IROC's with thier wider front tires and quick ratio steering boxes. 1LE cars also got them from the factory....not sure about the later Z28's?

Never installed one my self.. but im assuming they aren't hard at all to put in...Take off the front sway bar bolts... slide it in then bolt it back up...seems easy enough.

If i get 6 buyers ill build them I just don't want to have a ton of scrap laying around.



I figured they are the easiest place to start with my "Custom built" parts list...

Not unless i can get 6 buyers... Although i did find a new place to buy metal and they cut it to the length i need. Its some place near bay city though (my dad went not me) They may be able to sell me shorter lengths.

But find me a few other buyers and ill start making them for sure.
