  • [Project] Saving a Hugger Orange Z28RS

So begins a new project for me. I picked up a 1999 Hugger orange Z28 RS last night and the long term plan is to restore it. As of right now it is in a billion pieces. I know it has been owned by a few mifbody owners and has changed quite a bit in the last few years. As of now i have almost all the parts minus engine, trans, computer, front bumper, mirrors, and the driver side front rs fairing. I am sure the list of missing parts will grow. But my plans for the vehicle are to restore it to factory look with stock ls1. I will probably do a few "tidying up" mods, like abs delete and all new brake lines off the k-frame, all new fuel lines, the engine bay has started to by welded up for the smooth shock tower look. As for the performance i would like to just do bolt on's full exhaust, 3k stall, shift kit, etc... As for the progression of the car it will be slow at first because i am building a garage and remodeling my house. I want to take my time and completely go thru the car from top to bottom, clean, sandblast, paint, and powder coat everything I can.

Wow! Good luck man! Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Was the car going to get completely re-done the reason it was in pieces?

Wow! Glad to see you will be putting it back together. But I think 1 Orange Z28 with hair dryers is enough. Then again, they do like that boost! That is the car everyone used to confuse with mine when I used to DD my car. Best of luck getting it back together. The color is so unique and still one of my favorites.

I think you should turbo it with a TH400 Nick . But the main thing is its getting saved!
