• My winter project. The bracket needs a good cleaning.
Question, these are non heat sink 5.3 coils. I have 4 ls1 coils, should I use these or get 4 more ls1 coils?

10/10 got good laughs. I agree though, long live the opti!

Should I powdercoat the brackets bright pink to embrace the inner LSjuan?

I have everything I think. I'm going to be reppining my harness, since the person I bought it from was selling the diy kit. My total investment in this so far is only $325 (cost was $625 but had 300 in PayPal already from selling off a couple things), which is cheaper than an opti. I feel like a damn theif lol. The parts new from EFI would run you probably close to 700.

Honestly FASHOOTER you shouldn't do it man. Your car runs too good already for it to get this and could potentially make it slower. But on the other hand, 24x could make you go even faster

              And it's a 30th SS... Can't like ls1 parts touch that!

              • Sounds like your going into it pretty cheap! I have been watching that new setup that doesn't require messing with the harness. Its supposed to be out soon may do that next winter, motor will probably need to be refreshed by then I will bump it up to a 396

                • From what I've read, it's really straight forward for the M6 guys. It's really a case of pulling wires out of the stock pcm and moving them over to the ls1 thingy.

                  396 would be fun

                  • Thought I'd toss an update on the 24x. Haven't started installing it yet, but I will be picking up the front end engine seal set tomorrow and should start working on it Friday after my final.

Other than the 24x, I also picked up some C5 front brakes.

Pic of them mounted on the sellers C5.

                    • New year, new me!

                      New brakes!

I will be repainting them this spring and likely replacing the rears. The front caliper had a bent piston. That doesn't help braking!

                      • Did you put Teflon tape or liquid Teflon on the bolts for the water pumo?

                          • Dan, as far as coils go,they're all the same. Get whatever cheapest. I know folks say this coils better or that coils better. It's all hype, same same. Make sure they fit you brackets though.

I ended up going with non heat sink coils the seller had.
Came with the bracket and all.
zeeman how are the coils mounted on your 5.3 motor? On top of the valve covers correct?
