  • [Project] 1984 Z/28 T-top Project

    1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
    Current:
305 with Edelbrock Performer Intake, Edelbrock 4bbl, unsure on carb size

I believe the carb is too big, too much fuel flow. Not as responsive as my other 305 tbi in my GMC. I have a spare 4bbl 450cfm, I plan on throwing on it and getting it tuned in right untill I get my 355 built.

700R4 w/ a shift kit, unsure what's in it but second kicks hard as shit. Only issue is I don't believe the kick down cable is hooked up.

Body is great shape, only needs a couple small patch panels in the front floor.

I'll keep this thread updated as I pick away at it. W/ photos etc. Currently on my way back to West Virginia for work for ten days. Hoping to get the brakes and the kick down hooked up right.

Also curious to what the gears are in the rear end, I believe it's the 7.5 GM!

tv cable not being hooked up is more than an issue, that potential disaster as that trans needs that to shift properly. fix that before you screw it up

totally agree with Tyler on this! I have a blown 700r4 (from two owners ago) that I'm positive they blew it because they didn't have it adjusted properly.

It Overdrive it will shift 1,2nd,3rd, but no kickdown afterwards. Is that in relation with the TV cable?

a 700r4 will function without the tv cale, but its in no way good for it its a throttle valve without that valve opening and closing your trans will act fine but its wearing things out that wouldnt so easily if it operated, may as well make sure kickdown is hooked up as well

Well small update, just got home last night. Got the TV cable adjusted correctly now shifting where and when she should. Ordered a 84 A pillar triple gauge and they sent one for a hard top as oppose to the t-too I originally ordered

That's got to be a relief.

Anyone have an idea if wether or not an s10 of the same year shares the same backing plates for the camaro. Getting ready to leave out of state again and oreillys said they'd have em in for me today and well that's a no go

Forgot to post when you started the thread, but if you need any misc parts let me know. I bought a parts lot that had a few things from an 84' just odds and ends. I know I have a rear hatch, gauge cluster, random interior parts, air dam, etc.
