What product/method did you use to paint the underbody? Looks really good

Prepped with a Scotch Brite pad and sprayed with SEM Trim Black. The car was very clean to start with.

Holiday weekend and putting in the hours




Pumped out the rest of the fuel. I let the fuel pump do the work before it retired. Being in storage for years, I was afraid what I would find in the tank. Surprisingly, it was perfectly clean.



New Racetronix Walbro 255lph pump to support the LS3.



Cleaned, prepped, and painted the underbody.















Cleaned and painted the wheelhouses. I left the original coating because I wanted it to look factory. Just cleaned and painted.

More than that. The engine bay is getting painted. The core support is getting POR15. All the suspension and steering parts (less the steering shaft and gearbox) are being replaced. Control arms and other non-replaceable suspension parts are getting powdercoated.

That wasn't it. I was going to leave the box until the engine was out because it's just easier. On the way out the engine was getting stuck on it. I'm putting back the 1LE non-AC box so I just said F it and removed it with a sledgehammer.

Looking good! Random question where did you get that plastic thats covering the iroc? I'm sure i could find it overpriced at home depot but just curious.

It's 3M overspray protective sheeting. It comes on a roll and has a coating on one side that attracts the overspray. It makes a great car cover and I wanted to get it on the IROC and Pace Car as things get a little more dirty. The film has a little bit of a static cling to it that keeps it on the car. We use it at work when a car is done and detailed before the customer comes to pick up. We get it from Automotive Color and it was about $49/roll.
