  • [Project] jderry's 1996 Camaro

My goal is to get into the mid 11s
Last season ran a best of 12.48@113

    New parts already installed since:
Revmax 3600 w/ anti balloon plate, woven carbon lockup, and upgraded sprag springs.
    Freshly rebuilt 4l60e.
    Tune fixed by Steve

So as of now I have a huge list of parts to install as of now.

    NX Proton Kit
    NX Gen-X Accessories
    Mallory 685
    LS Steering Shaft
Nitrous Outlet spare tire bottle mount and ashtray switch
    Mickey Thompson Et streets

    Also I plan on doing:

    3.90 gears
    LS brakes with C5 calipers

I'm setting my goal this year to also hit 11s.

They're just milled .020 and a valve job. Compression should in the neighborhood of 11.8:1.
        The 60's were ~1.75. Looking for mid-low 1.60s.
Which I would hope would be do-able with a converter and tires that will hook up well.

        Edit:

Just went through my stack of time slips from last year.
The average was high 1.79 the best was 1.757.

Probably you. I won't be running nitrous my first couple times out.
I can't at the high school nationals at Milan, you can't run faster then a 12.00
I want to see how my trans/converter do N/A for a few passes.
I want lower 12's N/A. If I could run an 11.99 I would be more than happy.

I don't even know if I am going to get nitrous yet.
                  Or a cam.
I ordered a bunch of things though.
Still deciding if I want to order a cam and/or nitrous.

Still working on trying to get my 2 step to work. Just found an article that should help.

The cam swap was worth it in my opinion.
My car went from running 13.30s to 12.40s
Most of the money I spent doing it was on stuff that doesn't make it faster.
Just stuff that "should" make everything last longer and less likely to break.

Would the best way to wire the nitrous be
                        Arm--->WOT--->Mallory 685--->Solenoids?

                          That's always a good thing!
I have everything I should need other then a torque arm.

I have a chromoloy torque arm on order.

                            Sounds about right.
                            Arm the system.
WOT switch sends 12v to the Mallory for the Window switch.
The Window switch on the Mallory activates the solenoids.

Just ordered the billet micro switch from nitrous express, looks like a nice piece. It should help the system be less noticeable and an overall cleaner installation.

Also with the filter, should it go:
                              Bottle-->Feed line-->Filter-->Line To Solenoids?
