  • [Project] Project get the 95 Z28 back down the track!!

I figured i would post my build on My 95 Z28... its a slow process as i had back surgery at the end of september but due to complications im messed up again and will probably have surgery again soon, so in the mean time im gathering the parts to complete it as soon as im physically able to.

To start i bought the car back in 2005 with a 355 and a slew of aftermarket stuff already in it (walbro 255, mallory 685, 2 stage NOS kit, totally stock suspension) the car went 11.8 the weekend after i bought it. i then installed a Vig 3600 added sub frame connectors, a 6 point roll bar, and upped the spray and got it to go 10.8. i then pulled the motor out and put it in my 1st 97 SS vert. after that the car has sat.

fast forward to this year sitting around with a buddy he convinced me to finally breathe some life into it, so the parts ordering began!!

the 1st boosted 350 in my 30th SS tossed every bearing in the motor so i had to replace it (with a 383) so i sent out that old splayed 4 bolt to the machine shop had it punched 30 over and with a budget in mind i took them a spare stock crank, and a set of 5.7 eagle H beams to the shop and they hung diamond pistons on the rods.

i then chose the CC503 cam because i was using a stock head for now and i didnt want to over cam it and shoot my self in the foot even more than i already was using the stock heads.

i also found a th350 with a forward full manual valve body that will be going in the car

i also bought a UMI tunnel mount torque arm and LCA to help het the stress off the trans

along with these i bought a professional products harmonic balancer and a 3.90 gear for the 10 bolt that i had the tubes welded on. i also picked up a corvette gear reduction started... who knew the corvette starter was so bad ass!!! theres a slew of other parts im forgetting and i didnt take pics of

and heres a pic of the pile sitting in my room waiting on my recovery!!

i also deleted the ABS and put in a manual proportioning valve to get some weight out of the front end, i am also trimming all the metal under the fenders and all the bumper support plastic stuff... this isnt a car ill be driving on the street much so the safety crash stuff isnt as important to me.
as soon as i get more pics ill keep them updated!! id like to be able to turn the key on it by February!! as i get more pics of the progress ill post pics!!

i file fitted my tip rings last night... hopefully i didnt mess it up as my goal was .028 top and .032 2nd. but some of my top rings are a little looser like .030, i dont think this will hurt me too bad but i like it to be spor on and i choose such a wide gap because ill be spraying nitrous. and this isnt a DD, it will see no street miles.... the car is getting gutted... id like the car to go low 10's high 9's.

congrats on getting back on this car, I hope your back can heal up soon after surgery so you can get going. We all know building the car is always half the fun, good luck.
