  • I got the rear end, leafsprings, shocks and gas tank all in for good today. Heres a shot of the cleanup underneath and some of the patching, before the gas tank went in-

Still have to pull together and fold the circled area in white. About 2" of it was badly rotted, so I cut all the bad out and will refold it back together and make it look appealing to the eye again.

The floor boards, in the foot area in all 4 seats have also been fixed with sheet metal and undercoated.

I guess I should take care of those drums.......

    • Started working/cleaning under the hood, preparing for the motor/trans to be installed-

      Before-

      and after-

Still need a second coat of white in the bay....ran out of paint and time.

Also- Picked up a distributer today and have a radiator lined up. Think alls I need is a set of new plugs, starter and water pump, and I will have everything I need to have this running as soon as the engine/trans is dropped in!

Got the engine/trans all together today too-

          • I hope to drive it a little before it snows.

Still need to grab a water pump and starter, run new fuel lines and brake lines, pick up the radiator and I havnt even looked closely at all the wiring. Hope I dont run into anymore set backs, but plan on running into a few. Have a feeling the wiring is going to give me a headache.

            • Engine/trans are all mounted and the headers have been re-installed-

              Feels good!!!

Still need to buy a starter and water pump. Need to pick up my radiator.

I still need to put on the gas pump, distributor, alternator, power steering, carb and mount the drive shaft.

                    • I havnt had the time I like to have lately, so progress has been very slow.....

I got the carb on the motor, installed the water pump, fan, alternator and belt, and spark plugs.

Distributor is in, found TDC and plugged in some temporary wires.

Heres a few pics to share-

                      • I still need to fill it up with oil and hook up some gas, and I will start it. Just for the hell of it, I turned it over for the first time today. Was nice to get a little momentary gratification out of it.

I just noticed the pictures you posted in December. Looks like your distributor wires are in the wrong location. I can't tell in the picture you just posted.
                            Driver side of engine 1, 3, 5, 7 (odd numbers) passenger side 2, 4, 6, 8 (even numbers)
Find your TDC on compression stroke pop your cap and see where your rotor is pointing. Should be in the area of 5-7 o clock, I always tried to have it pointing at #1 cylinder (5 Oclock) Put your wires on cap counterclockwise in this order 18436572.

                              Good eye Dave.

At the time of the picture in Dec. I didnt have the hold down for the distributer, so it appeared to be way off, but really was just turned due to the short wires.

Did the video work for you?

Good stuff! No I couldn't get the video to play or see a link. But it could be my phone. Some of the you tube links that are posted I can't open.
