  • [Restoration] Project Restoration....err RUSToration on my DD

well my F-250 was getting crusty and rusty in the typical areas that they do that in. So I power washed as much of the paint off as I could and put my little wheels/tire back on it and took it to my buddies shop. I needed new front and rear bumpers since they both had some dings/holes/dents in the from the previous owner. Replaced them with paintable ones and had the grill painted as well.
    Before

Then the interior was wasted from all the sand from the sand blasting so I pulled it out and cleaned it

I spent a total of two days block sanding with 1500 wet and using 3000 wet on a DA and polishing everything on the truck that was repainted. It has a far better finish than typical factory orange peel now
Put the big boy wheels back on and BAM. Done.... for now, next is the '05 Harley Headlights (think whisper camaro head lights for super duties if you're not familiar)

Had a Customers truck at the shop yesterday as well

for size comparison, my wheels are 20x9 with a 325/60r20 tires (35x13) those are 22.5's with some rubber on 'em!

Looks great! I like the painted front end much better. Nice to see people fixing their rust the RIGHT way.

Thanks! yeah both the front and rear bumpers were POR15'd on the inside of them before they were painted. the inside of my doors on the bottom and the rockers were all rock gaurded and then painted over so it should hold up even better. Only one way to properly fix rust and that is to completely rempve it until you find good metal!

Yep I live in WB, work in Keego, and am all over the area. The work was done at Custom Collision in Sylvan Lake. (place with the light up huge palm tree across from the Forsters car wash in sylvan, all the guys there have "Team Cass Lake Racing" stickers on their trucks you may have seen in the area as well.)

Thanks, just the typical stuff, intake, 4" turbo back exhaust, 6 position chip with some custom tunes, billet covered converter, shift kit, different compressor wheel on the turbo for reduced surge under heavy load/fueling. boost/transtemp/egt full sweep gauges, I think that's about it...

I was going to say, I know that shop! This guy would hold tool shows there over the past year, and thats how I bought all of my Snap On tools.
Yea they are big into snowmobiling and drinking beer, so my brother got along with them well.

                  The truck looks good!

Exacty what curt said. The painted front Looks awesome. Can i ask how much it ran you for all the work? My dad needs the rockers done on his chevy. Seems a lot of shops dont want to mess with rust repair. I also recognize that shop for the same reason as brian.

That looks sick Matt. I love the painted grill and bumpers. I think those Harley headlights are going to complete the look!

As far as cost, I kinda had a deal worked out. My buddys dad who owns the shop just told me to buy all the the panels (new inner and outter bedside patch panels, and new front and rear bumpers) and pay for the paint/materials.....He has a 37 foot Sea Ray that hasn't sold yet, and his new(er) 41 foot Sea Ray out at Mac Ray on the east side, so I've got some fiberglass to look good here this spring (My buddy Mikey has a white ext cab 05 F250 like mine all painted that he did the same thing there so the two of us have some work ahead. But altogether i'm into it for $850 how it sits right now. )
