Well i finally got my new car so i guess ill start a VERY SLOW build thread.so ill start on the history of my current car. after my mom and dad got married my dad sold his dunebuggy and bought a 1985 camaro for a gift to my mom. well she never drove it so my dad used it most. the car was bought from a dealership after being stolen from another dealer and they used little care in trying to fix it. meaning that there was a nasty uneccesary thick coat of undercoating on the car that made things worse as opposed to better. anyways my mom and dad got divorced and my dad got the car but lost the keys in 2002 so the car sat in a friends field which was the start to a bad life. the car rotted from underneath and from the inside out. i found this out because i found two build dates on it where they car stopped its production and was left outside during christmas vacation. in 1993 when i was born, my dad picked me up from the hospital in this car, and i learned how to work on vehicles from this car so its always been in my life. around 2009 i bought a 79 trans am for cheap just a shell engine and trans. i bought that car for 200 bucks turned around and sold it for a grand because my dad asked if id be interested in the camaro. so i took the camaro from him and put my grand into plating, insurance, and fixing everything i could to drive it back and forth to school. unfortuantely the whole cars floors and frame were completely rotted out, and by completely i mean it was the worst case of rust on a vehicle ive ever seen. so one day after a week in chicago i come back and my dad had screwed in sheets of metal for a floor, which did the trick but i never felt safe. then the exterior started showing rust so i decided to store it in the driveway and find a shell as well as another dd. so i bought my 88 stepside k1500 for a dd. and about a month ago i found a 92 rs camaro for sale for 300 bucks and jumped on it. rust free and i found a hundred dollar bill laying under the carpet so it was technically 200 bucks. heres some pics of my 85 currently

the 85 is just toast sad to say but it really is. reaar quarters are going, im not sure how the gfx are still on there. bottom of the car is destroyed. the 92 is rock solid though i found 6 bucks in change and a sterling silver engraved pocket knife from a long time ago and and regular cheepo knife along with a diamond earring. anyways pics of the 92 below. anyone wanna help me take out my dash?

havent really got much done with the car. almost got the rear out just stuck on the driver side control arm. i cant get the bolt out and it already broke two of my ratchets =(

well today jon and darren stopped by and helped me get the dash accesable, then i took all the wiring out along with the brake pedal steering column and the drivers side door. id take pictures but my camara sucks......but ill get them eventually

Good meeting you today Tyler! Got one hell of a project there, I think it will be a sweet long term toy and something to work on. Like I said I love the setup you have there should make things easier in the long run too. Keep tearing the car down taking good mental notes and keep a end plan in sight. Work a little on it every week and you'll see how much you can get done. Once things slow down a little more for me I would be willing to come hang out and lend a hand again.

thanks jon. today i got the arms dropped coil almost taken out the driver side wants to cause issues. i looked at the windsheild seel today and saw it was alittle bit poosed up and pulled a little and it started coming off with ease, as i pulled i noticed a little fractur that was previously hidden. long story short the guy who had this car before tried getting the windshield out it looks like and there a chip in it now, so theres goes a perfectly good piece of glass i couldve sold. I also got all the fuel and brake lines out of the car and have been researching what i plan on doing tothis thing engine and suspension wise.

yesterday i got the k member dropped. found two small holes in the firewall wheel well area just needs to be patched, cause is basically a shell except for the rear

i thought this thread died but i guess not. cars fully disassembled ive been having a huge problem with jackstands lately so i cant really do anything to the car. trying to get my welder to work and want to get the underbody clean so i can por 15 it and start reassembly. im looking for a 4th gen rear if anyone has a clue where one is. lower gears preferrably and inexpensive. i know they are around

small update. lately ive been laying under the carwith my shop light and a wirebrush extension on the corded drill and have been plugging away getting all the nasty oil and grime off the underside. i got up to the back seats or so and then started to wipe wipe down everything again with some denatured alcohol. dont let that stuff get on your face it kills, i have to lotion up everyday. after the alcohol i found some rust inhibitor as i was walking through lowes, talked to my friends uncle and he says hes used it on many project because for the price it works just as well as all the fancy crap. the inhibitor will go wherever i see rust and also on the a arms/kmember and maybe some other things. after that ill be coating it with oil based red paint, i might thin it a little and do two coats but im not sure yet.
as far as the inside of the car goes i tried patching some holes but the metal i have is too thin and my welder just keeps eating through it.
i also tried getting those tar patches out of the way and was going to put something different in or weld those patches but after they wouldnt come off i decided id fill the area with water and see if it leaked. it did which isnt good so i took my torch and melted the tar so it got in the crevices more.
i beat on the 85 one last time, my neighbors step son got all cocky with his cutlass and his supposed 350, it was definitely a 307 so i raced him down from 16 to harrington on groesbeck. surprisingly the 85 did great. it runs awesome at WOT, shifted perfectly and everything, makes me sad that im gonna tear it apart

and does anyone need any air hose? i got all this air hose(the blue stuff) but its larger than any standard stuff i have, i dont think ill use it so if you want it let me know

rear is 3/4 of the way cleaned up. i hope to start modifying it today for the 4th gen stuff but not in a hurry, also i hope to get back under the car and start laying down paint and primer under there. if anyone needs an easy way to get that hug bolt for the backing plate off i pretty much figured it out

i painted it and the axle with inhibitor just got one side done so far, probably paint the axle housing red and pick up a chrome diff cover and new gasket.
