  • [Project] Time to step up and make it hook.....

It appears my 26x11.5x15 ET Streets aren't going to work with my new head/cam combo. They've been 1.65 which imo is terrible - and last weekend they went the best of 1.75 - I threw on my old ass nittos and let it rip - it went a 1.74! (Ask Mike - Concept how many miles these have on them!) The ET streets have 125 passes on them now, so they are probably done.

So it's time to go big or go home. Car makes power - it's been 120.8mph in 2500ft air. Car is near full weight.

4.56 gears are on the way - and as soon as I can swipe the discover card from the wife 28" MT stiffwalled ET drags will be coming.

Guys on tech swear by this combo - and my engine seems to like to be shifted at 6800+ anyways.

Consistent 1.5's are where I want to be - I'd be thrilled with some 1.4's but I don't think it'll do it full weight.

I bought those new in like 2007!

I don't remember how many miles I put on them but it had to be like 8-10K!

EDIT** I just looked through my email and I sent a picture of them from my phone mounted on my car 8/11/07!!!! I would go out on a limb and say you got your use out of them.

FOR SURE!!! lol. they say every 2 years you need new slicks due to them drying out. they may feel soft but there is a differance. i learn'd that the hard way and a good friend of mine at the age of 65 been racin for 10-15 years just learned that when he try'd hooking on a set of 5 year old goodyear slicks. it used to pull the tires 3 years ago. then 60' times got slower and slower. he just baught a brand new set and flat hung his skinnys about 1 foot in the air. and got a 1.33 60' and let me tell you something this guy cuts lights on foot break. .506's all the time and if he gets slower all you gotta do is give him a can of coke and he starts cutting good lights again lol. good luck.

they aren't old by any means just not brand new is all I meant by that. I believe they will be good for a couple track outings. Sending you a pm with pics now Jeremy.

They still have life left too.......they work great on the street.

It's just the power shifting at the track they don't like.......

Gears are in - and setup, but when I removed/installed/re-removed/reinstalled the pinion assembly I messed up the pinion pilot bearing - which happens to be the only bearing I couldn't get locally. The new one should be here Wednesday.

Then I'll need to get the tires mounted and put everything back together.

Did the 1st heat cycle on the gears today.

Much quieter than the 4.10's - hopefully they remain that way.

I've been chasing a weird vibration for the last week.......finally found it.

The strange chromoly slip yoke I bought is way to loose. It's .010 smaller on the OD and the splines are cut .030 deeper than they are on my spicer yoke. You can grab the d/s and move it up and down

I've got a billet yoke coming over night - hopefully it fits more like the spicer did
