Heads are off - sorry for the crappy pic - I couldn't get the exhaust apart, torco duraseal clamps were overkill. My brother stopped by and I put him to work. The heads came out with the headers in place......

you have to drop the oil pan as far as it goes, then carefully back the bolt out with a 10mm wrench. once it gets finger loose you can do it the rest of the way by hand. it is very nerve racking... have a magnet ready....

Oil pump and cam are out. It's time to start cleaning the threads/deck

The oil pump bolt was a breeze - I put a zip tie around it and then clamped my vice grips to the end of the zip tie, and had my pen magnet ready for backup.

Deck is clean - working on the bolt holes right now.

Any one that doesn't use the ARP thread chaser is nuts - every hole is clean after the 2nd pass, I've ran it through a 3rd time and it's always clean - well worth the $50.

Cam, lifters and chain are installed. Oil pump is on but I want to crawl under the car and make sure I didn't pinch the o-ring. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the oil pump, and pan finished up. Then I can focus on the heads and reassembly of the remaining stuff.

                  is the pan off?
i like to open up the mounting hole in the pickup at the main cap. helps everything slide together a little easier

Nope - just lowered. Everything seemed to go back together fine, once I go the oil pump clocked right.

Guess I ran out of brake cleaner - so I couldn't clean up the rockers/stands and new pushrods - so I bolted the headers back up

That would be a little optimistic, but I'll try
