Looks like a nice bike. Good luck with it. I like the look of street bikes, but don't know if I'd ever want to own one.

They look great, but the best part about sport bikes is actually riding one. It may be suicide to say this on this site, but when I had my Katana 600, I actually had more fun riding that than I did driving the Firebird. . . Ive considered selling my car for a bike almost every day that I have had it. I totally understand what you mean.

I was thinking of trying to trade my car for a newer sport bike earlier this year, but I realized that I couldn't live without my car. lolOriginally posted by nascarnate326 View PostIve considered selling my car for a bike almost every day that I have had it. I totally understand what you mean.

Hoping to have the bike on the road within 2 weeks, it's not too far off right now, I just need to find a couple more parts to get it running.
I'm thinking a "streetfighter" bike would be pretty sweet, I saw someone who put the rear subframe and tail from a newer GSXR onto an older bike. It looked great. I've been looking at new headlights too, found a couple of really cool ones that are made for streetfighters. Should cost a ton less than the stock headlight and front fairing. I'm just trying to figure out if gas tanks from the newer Gixxers will work too, I'm willing to put some mounting tabs on either the tank or my bike frame to make it work, but I think I could make the bike look a little nicer if I replaced the rusty, dented stock tank.Nick H.

I sanded down the rear fairings and painted them flat black today. Also got the keys made, it's SO much nicer being able to put the seat back on without worrying about being locked out. . . lol I still need to sand and paint the side plastics, and I need a new gas tank, but after I get that done, the bike is going to look great. I'm looking into some universal streetfighter-style headlights right now, I've found a couple of nice looking units, I'll probably order one in a couple of weeks. I'm going to see if a friend of mine has a spare tank I can borrow to start the bike with until I order a replacement, that should give me some more work to do, getting the carbs synced up and making sure it doesn't make any noises. . .
Here are a couple more pics!

I like the progress, I have been checking this thread every few hours. As to what you said earlier about finding a bike, I want to hold out for a street bike such as yours but maybe a 400 or something a little smaller, Don't worry cause like I said I'm learning off a 250 honda rebel.
Keep up the good work

Thanks guys, I got the frame covers (the little triangular fairing pieces that go right in front of the tail fairings) sanded and painted, put them back on the bike, but didn't grab any pictures. Still have a decent list of parts to buy before it's ridable. . . Gas tank, fuel petcock, front fork tubes, front tire, coolant tube (runs along lower left side of crankcase), headlight and front turn signals, gas cap (already ordered, should be here this week), and the carbs need to be adjusted and sync'ed. I've knocked out about as much as I can until I get paid next. . . Still, there's not much left to do now, so I think I should have the bike back on the road this month.Nick H.

I'll go take some more pics in a little while. I finally got some interest in my chrome rims, someone saw the Craigslist ad after I reposted it. . . If they sell, I'll have the money to get the rest of the parts to get the bike on the road.Originally posted by JSTALT1 View Postcongrats Nick, lets see some pics!!!Nick H.

Ebay auction for my Bel Air parts ended with Buy it Now, should be more than enough to finish the bike enough that it's driveable. Should have the bike done over the next week or so, assuming the sale is completed this week.
EDIT: It was a scammer. No money, no progress on the bike, and I have to wait a week before I can relist the parts on Ebay. I ******* hate people.Last edited by 93formulalt1; May 23rd, 2010, 12:04 PM.Nick H.

Pulled the front wheel off today with the intentions of painting it, but I need to dismount the tire first. . . I'm going to hold off until I have new ones to put back on. I'll probably put the bike up on stands and pull the back wheel as well. Should be able to get a new set of tires for it for around $200.Nick H.

Got them relisted yesterday. Hopefully they sell this time. . . I get paid next Monday, so I should be able to get the bike running at least, if not riding, next week. I had some interest in my old chrome 16" TA wheels, but the guy tried to lowball me too much, and I haven't heard back from him.Nick H.
