Tires are cirtanly a possibility, but the wheels are getting redone first, more on that later.

Im totally open to cam ideas, ive tried looking around before but no one wants to help with little cams, everyone is set on bigger being better.

Phil did an awesome job on the street tune last time and has been SO helpful through all of this, I know he will do a good job again, its not that I dont have faith in the tune, I just dont want something that doesnt make any power down low, I dont want to spin it to the moon to have fun. Its a cruiser, a cruiser that better go 12.99 lol. and I really dont want to loose any mileage either.

I talked to thunder and they were quite confident with the results of the cheaTR v3 in a 5.3, they just did one in a 5.3 pickup and were very impressed with it.

Im absolutly open for other ideas, but no one seems to speak up, here or on tech...

Well I got the new converter installed today, and DAYUM! Ive only had a few opportunities to really get on it because of the rain were getting here, but it has seriously scared me every time. Drives almost exactly like stock until you get on it, I kid not, I could close the cutout and my grandma could drive this. But put it to the floor and your leaving tire all over the road. Launching is about to get seriously interesting. I think tires is going to be added to the list, cause unless track prep is 100% and these tires are warmed up, were going to have traction issues.

Really woke the car up, made me enjoy it a lot more. BEST BANG FOR BUCK on the car EVER! For every auto guy this needs to be first on your "big mod" list. Mad props to Mike as usual, give him a call and he'll hook you up!

he just has a stock truck cam in it right now, I honestly don't see anything wrong with running the cheater cam Spencer, it should have great driveability and wont fall over at 5K like it is right now so that will be a huge improvement.

I'm not sure what your timeframe is, but I'm pulling out my Thunder Racing TR224-112 in a few weeks for a larger custom spec'd cam. The TR224 ran low 12's thru a T56 and 9" so I bet it would run 11's with an auto and stall. The driveability was never an issue and I still got 27mpg on the highway!!! If you're interested let me know...I will let it go for cheap. I also have stock length Thunder Racing hardened pushrods that I'm replacing with longer ones for my new cam.

Shouldn't be hard. I'm 12.998 with a few bolt ons. I know its absolute bottom feeder 12's but its still 12's!

                            CheaTR specs are

                            Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
" CheaTR v.3" - 219/230 .607/.604 117 LSA. Off Idle-6800 RPM Power Band. Broad power range. Works well with stock exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters. Stock like idle in 5.7L or Larger. Minor tuning required on automatic transmission cars. Responds very well to nitrous. This cam works well with "Roots style" SuperChargers. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Comp 925/926 Valve Springs are highly recommended.

Id be open to the 224 and PR's youve got, let me know what your looking to get for them. All id really need at that point would be a good set of dual springs.

I just sent a PM...I also have comp 918 springs that you can have but I'm not sure if I trust them anymore because many people have experienced failures. I just bought a set of PAC1518's to replace them. I dont think you would need dual springs for the TR224 because the lift is only .563"

the stock lid is restricting your top end big time dude, an aftermarket one is worth a couple tenths itself id say.

And also if its not a daily driver dont be afraid of a bigger cam. If i were you I would let mike pick out something for you, he knows his stuff. My cam is 226/234 on a 110 LSA and although it doesnt snap from way down at 1000 RPM like it used to, by 2500 RPM it is making really good torque. Driveability is excellent too, it pretty much only surges if i try to make it do so. And I might add that I have a tune that completely sucks.

but that said, i dont think you need a cam at all to run 12s.
