isn't there anyone out there that has some info for me about the following posting from awhile ago, or no-one wants to help a fellow f-body owner out..?

    Hello everyone,

    I have a 1979 10th anniversary T/A...

    Problem #1
The body is in pretty good shape. Maybe two minor dents. There's a very small area of paint on the hood that was eaten through to the metal from something I obviously carelessly left on the car cover. Does anyone know of a reputable paint shop in the metro detroit area that they've had experience with that does good/great work..?

    problem #2
The real issue I have is that I took the original engine (pontiac 400) out (by the way this is a 400/4spd) and had a company build me a hopped up 400. The original engine is on a engine stand in the corner of my garage.
I since took the top half of the engine apart due to problems and has been sitting with the car collecting dust for some time now. I have three sets of heads and three cams, which I planned to put one of these combinations into it. Unfortunatly I don't really have or had the time to work on it, and would need someone with engine experience to get it running. Does anyone also know of a reputable engine shop in the metro detroit area that they've dealt with, does good/great work and knows how to build modified pontiac engines..?

Since you're in Clinton Township, a few miles to the west of you at 19 and Van Dyke is Jakes' Automotive. We had our group Dyno Day there and I'm sure they could help you with the restoration of the engine.

    Here's their website:

As for paint - it all depends on how much you're willing to spend.

I agree with this as Brian as correct, there are also many good shops for body and paint work in and around your area but what is your budget?

Any Autometric Collision shop or Northland Collision on Woodward in Ferndale are all excellent at paint, but a lot is going to depend on how aged or weathered your original finish is. Have them check it out -- they'll tell you up front if they can't do a first class job. If they're too busy or don't want to get into a smaller job like that, I've heard good things about Custom Concept Collision in Oak Park, on 11 Mile west of Coolidge.

And then there's also Bill's Barn at 29 and North Ave that can paint a whole car for like $500.

Art like it has been said, it all depends on how much you are willing to invest and what your end goals are. Do you want a nice summer cruiser or a 100 point show car when you're done???

If you're looking for a 100 point show car and $$$ not an object, then there's a guy located in central Michigan who is well known for his Pontiac restorations. If you're interested let me know I'll dig up his info again.

If you want a nice summer cruiser, then I'd use some of the shops listed by the others.

After seeing both of Todd's(TSTONE) cars I would recommend Site Sponsor Paul the Painter.

Thanks..! I'm actually interested in all options that are available to me. If I can get a 100 pt show car without getting robbed I'd do it. Otherwise I'd go with a street/strip car that looks extremely well. If it's not to much of a problem you could dig up that info for me...Thanks again.

you know what guys...I obviously don't know how to reply to individual postings. Thanks to all of you. I will research the info you gave me. If you have anymore info I'd appreciate whatever you have. I'm actually looking to have this done in the next year or two. So I have time to make an educated decision on where to have it done. That's basically why I'm trying to get any reccommendations now. Thanks again
