Derek, wow I didnt know you got it home yet. Looks awesome, should keep you busy for a little while anyway. I have some experience with fixing the windshield pillar, its not too hard really. Some of the other areas will be more challenging than that but looks doable to me. Take care

Wow, good find on all the original code stickers...

Bad news on the rear window...good news is finding a donor should be relatively cheap and easy...

All in all, still looks like a good resto project...

          Update!

As you can tell, my 73 is pretty thin in the sheetmetal department so I have been looking for Solutions. There currently is no reproductions on full 1/4s, or tail panels for 70-73 firebirds. NOS stuff easily brings 1500-2000, uggg

So I found a guy about 2 hours away from me who is liquidating his parts and he happens to have both LH and RH full 70-73 quarters from the outside all the way to the inside of the frame rails and from rear bumper mounts to just ahead of the door striker sill. We struck a deal and now I have a project!!

Just for the record, these pictures are the Seller's pictures, I will have my own soon.

Before I bought the full used quarters, I found a very solid 72 roller. I am going to use as much of this car as possible. When I first saw this roller, I was shocked to see the rear tail panel complete and intact. Little did I know it was a replacement probably from a rear end hit (a hard enough hit to wrinkle the trunk pan but not the quarters or frame rails).

It looks like after they replaced this panel, the rear got hit again! then someone came along and did some straightening on the panel and then another hit!! I am not sure what the owner(s) did to this poor firebird but that rear panel never stood a chance.

Notice the "wrinkle" on the fuel fill hump (where grinder wheel is sitting) That wrinkle is not suppose to be there.

Not a flat face on this panel!

Removing LH Quarter remnants from Donor roller

Here I started preparing the roller to remove good solid parts or accepting my full quarters I just bought. Not sure what route I want to take with this donor roller. Other than the missing quarter panels that some idiot "hacked" off, this car is solid

                IMG_5321.JPG

Starting to cut out Spot welds with spot weld drill, I did this for practice rather than go the easy route and grind off the spot welds.
                IMG_5327.JPG

Completed removed left-over outer LH wheel well section.

Note the "seam sealer" that was applied from the factory between the quater panel and wheel well.

                  Look what I found!

Check this out, some assembler must have broke off their drill and it fell in-between the RH quarter panel and RH wheel well, just behind the door striker sill. You can tell the drill must have been dropped before the car was ever saw it's first paint job since the drill got coated with the same primer as the rest of the body! haha, cool find.

Very cool...ah, if they could only talk...makes you wonder what the assembler was doing with a drill in that area anyway...
