  • [Restoration] 1970 Chevelle Restoration

    1970 Chevelle Restoration.
Since I had my wisdeom teeth pulled out yesterday, I want to show everyone the progress I am making on my chevelle I bought 5 years ago.

The color choice as some of you know was a HUGE decision for me. If it wasn't light green I would have kept it the original color. I can give you an excuse for every color available. The color is 1967 Marina blue, and I am starting to like is more and more every day. BTW this car is half foreign, New fenders, hood, D rocker, door skins, full quarters, tulip panel, part of the trunk floor.( I didn't fill over the rust like the previous owner did)

I still have some big decisions to make including
What color interior? Black or grey/silver
What kind of 17" wheels? I still like the grey spoke TT II but they are a commone desion
Once it is driveable I may add stripes but I am hoping I like it without stripes to be different. I have many other upgrades I want to do, like a 700R4, suspension upgrades, and a power adder like mini blower. But First I will get some miles on this set up seeing that though I have never driven it. EVER!

      VERY nice!!
My brother in law has a 70 Chevelle SS also. I think hes going to keep it the stock Red with black SS stripes.

Looks like you spent a lot of time on it, it looks VERY nice.

I like the black interior, but it's up to you. With the color you piced out, you could go either way.

I was so frustred about color. If I didn't do blue I was going to do red. I probaly like red more but red chevelles are so common.

I am leaning toward black but Silver or blue would be different.

LOL Funny you ask. I hope have it together in 9 weeks which my dad got a good laugh out of. I know there be sveral loose ends.
The chevelle is a Malibu with many unique options. I talked to the original owner and he said he didn't buy a big block SS because of insurance.

Some of the options include, Fiber optic lamp monitors, electro tip wipers(Brain H I will be calling you a few months), Disc brake in front, power brakes, power steeing, tinted glass, deluxe guages, 300 HP, with a 350 AT, with a 3.31 12 bolt.

Your Crazy!!! J/K I sort of liked it also but It was a too big of a risk to take.
Reason 1. If I didn't like it would be too costly to paint and re rub it.(easy $3,000)
Reason 2. Lots of people can say it looks nice but when it comes time to sell(if I had to) not many are interested in a light green muscle car.

                        Excellent color choice Brian.
I think interior color choice depends on whether or not you go with a stock type or custom interior. If your thinking stock buckets, I would go with
Black. If your thinking of using seats out of a newer GTO, ect.,then you could go with a dark gray. Personally I think black would look better though. (JMOP) Your Chevelle looks really nice in Blue!!
