  • [Project] Ford 9"

A couple weeks ago i was driving around on the forklift at work and i happened to see a ford 9" housing sitting on a shelf that looked like it would fit an f body so i talked to one of the counter guys and asked about it and sure enough it was so i asked how much. First he said $200 i talked him down to $150 for the housing alone but then i found a center section housing and a aluminum performance bearing cap, so i talked to him again and told him id give him $150 for everything and he countered at $175 So i am getting about $600 worth of stuff for $175. Now all i need is to order some moser axles, get a 3.70 gear set and a posi which i can get all from my work also for pretty cheap. Now on to the pictures.

Did you measure the width on it to see if it was for a 4th gen and not a 3rd gen?

I'm with James on that. I think you can still use a 3rd gen rear, but they are shorter.

Either way you got a heck of a deal. You should sell it to me.

I was told by two guys at my work that it was for a 4th gen, i didnt know there was a difference in them. Is there any modifying im going to have to do to make the 9" work like brakes are my main concern, and whatever else. Im not sure if the center section will work then i didnt know there was a difference in them either. I dont know alot about them so im not sure what im looking at all i know is that i got a awesome deal.
