Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Example...Brian's story...correct me where I go wrong here, B, but after the accident the first appraiser from the insurance company came out and said RA was worth $3500, and you threw a fit and protested to the insurer. Appraiser #2 came out and readjusted the appraisal to $6500.
Sorta correct. It wasn't so much of a first appraiser. I think the collision shop called the insurance company and the insurance company quoted over the phone that the vehicle's worth was only $3500. I didn't have to do anything, Troy Collision called and told them to get out and look at the vehicle because it was worth more. They took good care of me in that regard.

So, my insurance told my my car's worth $2475. I told them it's custom blah blah blah. They said they don't have appraisers, so I need to find one so they can insure it based on what he says. So....? Is that the same thing?

That sounds more like a stated value policy, not an agreed value. Meaning that sure you/they may state that the value could be $X amount, but in the event a total loss occurs you would still have to prove that. (Always a hassle)
With an agreed value policy you/they agree before the policy is issued that the value is $X amount, and in the event of a total loss you would get a check for the agreed amount. No questions asked.

I see. So, if a total loss happened then I would get the appraisal + the receipts and then it would be a done deal -- ish?

No, you only get the appraisal value . Thats why it sucks dumping loads of cash into a car because there is no way to get any decent return just enough to move on to something else.

The guy's basing the appraisal on how much I've put into it. So... if the dude appraises it for $10K then if it's totalled I'll get $10K???
Sorry I seem slow, but I'm trying to "get" this whole deal. I've never done this before.
You get the appraised value, Peroid. The appraised value is based on your current modifications, the car itself and the desirability of the car all together.

Yeah, and it will likely be their appraisal, not yours, in the event that you total it.
But document EVERYTHING. Pictures of EVERYTHING. It will only help you in the event that something does go wrong.

I think it is because I take it in and out all the time, the rubber has just stretched out, especially at the bottom where it is really thin. It annoys me more then anything.
