Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
Sorry guys, I don't think I'm going to be calling anyone for the first startup. Once we have it started, I'll do some calls and invite people over to hear it run but it's too hard to coordinate having everyone over for the very first start up.
its cool!!!! if i can make it later to day i will come over.. if that cool if you call or txt good luck man i hope nothing else goes wrong and its a smooth start....

Well, ran into an unexpected snag. My dad and I were admittedly expecting to run into something, but what we ran into wasn't what we were expected.
I've got some issues with the wiring in the car - the PCM is getting no power. Our suspected culprit would be Monday night's work. I had chopped the eyelets off on the fusible links and soldered on larger eyelets. Well, we're thinking that the soldering iron I used broke the fuse because it was a really hot soldering iron. I didn't realize that the fusible links meant there was a silver strip fuse inline with the wire... albiet it makes sense on the naming of the wires now. In any case, I didn't use any clips to make sure the heat wouldn't get to the fuses so we're thinking that's where the problem is. We went through the pinouts of the PCM harness (big thanks to ShBox.com!) and the two battery pinouts were no power. Unfortunately we didn't check the PCM Ignition feed which might be missing power too.
But, in any case, we weren't able to fix Steve's computer. It seems like it's a driver or software issue. He says he's tried a different cord so we don't think that it's the cord causing the issue. It starts to read the PCM and then throws a com error. It's actually pretty common error and found tons of results on Google. Most say it's either the USB to serial hardware or the device drivers. We're thinking it's the drivers. Monday Steve's going to come back over and we're going to uninstall the software and reinstall it - hopefully that should fix it.
So yeah - no start up today but I'm going to download a video off of dad's camera for us priming the oil pump and what not. Holy crap did it sound cool trying to start with no fuel. It made a real "whooomp whoooomp whoooooomp" noise as it built the compression and what not.
OMG what a Cluster F*** this has turned into,
Anyway
Did you guys get the steering issues taken car of this morning ?
I'll also swing by on Monday if you need any more help.

I have a bunch of fusible links if you need some??

OK - after I posted I went outside and started doing some more troubleshooting. I tapped into all of the fusible links after the fuse and none of the fuses are blown, they're all good.
Here's the real issue: 1994 engine bay and dash harness ≠ 1995 engine harness.
Looking at Shbox's website, we were able to find 7 pin discrepancies between the 1994 engine harness plugs and the 1995 engine harness plugs (plugs C100, C105, C210, C220, C230).
The most important discrepancy which answers our PCM power issue is that on 1994 the PCM gets the power from a fuse in the interior fuse block whereas on 1995 the PCM gets the power from a fuse in the ENGINE BAY fuse block. Regardless, a few 12v jumper cables with the correct fuses inline -OR- take the wire from the '94 interior harness that is providing the power and run it to the two orange power wires for the PCM.
Anoter discrepancy that we already have solved is C105's Cavity B. On 1994, there is no C105 plug. On 1995, there is this C105 plug and it's only two wires - one for the Power Feed from Injector Fuse #10 and one for the Serial Data Signal. We have the Power Feed from Injector Fuse #10 solved as we can jump a wire from C100 (literally located next to C105) Cavity K to C105's Cavity B.
We still have to figure out some other stuff, but I'm going to make a post in the Engine Swap forum to just list out the discrepancies we found between the two harnesses so far.
Yeah, this doesn't look so fun but then again my dad is very good at being logical and going through step by step for troubleshooting and what not. We've got a good plan for tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. Worst case scenario we end up going pin by pin on each PCM plug and ensure that they're correct.
well we think we have all the wiring issues taken care of there are a couple things but I don't think they will be show stoppers. So now we are waiting for Steve the tuner to come on Tueday as Brian has class on monday nite. This was not anticipated, and is a real PIA.
