Still a little ways away - I want to paint the under carriage, fix some rust holes in the engine bay, reroute the fuel lines and do some wiring clean up, but otherwise it's getting a lot closer.
Won't be able to work on it at all this weekend - going to Cleveland to see some 5th gen Camaros.

Looks good!
I have 4 questions:
How did you get your car so high to get the build up under it?
What is the ht. of your build up?
What are the dimension of the 2 x 4 build up you have?
What is the mesurements of the "engine cradle" that you are using to get the motor under the car? Would you change anything about it?
I have a project coming my way from a member here in a few weeks and it will include a K-member and building a 383 Stroker and I may want to do it this way.

I have a project coming my way from a member here in a few weeks and it will include a K-member and building a 383 Stroker and I may want to do it this way.
First we jacked the rear end up to put the rear tires up on an extra set of rims. Word of caution: Make sure you have a GOOD jack that goes up like 23" high. We had a crappy small jack and used blocks of wood the first time and the car rolled forward and let me tell you that is effin scary when part of you (even just your shoulder and arm) is under the car. Although I have a feeling in this case I'm preaching to the preacher, right?
For the front of the car we used the cherry picker with chains wrapped around the metal area by the headlights to lift the front up. The cherry picker could lift the car even higher with no problems at all, but I'll tell ya it's really nerve wracking for me to have it as high as it is right now - especially the way we have those "loose" 2x4s stacked on top of the boxed 2x4s.
We have the k-frame/LT1 assembly sitting on top of a furniture moving dolly that we had from awhile ago. If memory serves correctly, someone told me that you can get a similar dolly from Harbor Freight. I've never been to Harbor Freight so I don't know the specifics. The height, including the k-frame assembly, is roughly 33 inches. The car's current height is more like 36-40 inches because there is a portion of the metal wheel well that comes down further than the fender lining. In this picture you can see the red metal that comes down further than the black of the fender wheel well lining. We originally thought we only had to measure to the height of the top of the wheel well but then that red bump got in the way so we had to raise the car higher than that red bulge.
The width of the box is only dependent on the size of your jack stands - you want the box to be big/small enough that your jack stands can safely rest on the 2x4s. Height wise, it's 11 layers of 2x4s all screwed together. It's VERY stable. In the pics with it raised even higher, the additional 2x4s on top of the box are "loose" - not screwed together - and it REALLY made me feel unsafe and highly paranoid. We have the cherry picker still hooked up to the chain and the chain is taught so JUST IN CASE if anything happens to those 2x4s that the cherry picker -should- be able to "catch" the car from falling.
I don't have the exact dimensions of the engine cradle right now, but if/when we pull the k-frame off (might not be until we get the kframe actually mounted) I can shoot you some dimensions.

No he was forced into retiring from real estate when the housing market began to collapse. He's had a few jobs here and there since then but right now he's just living the life of a Pit Crew member.
Angie and I are going to her house on Saturday after the show, but we'll be home on Sunday.- Brian Meissen

Sounds good. Give me a call tomorrow closer to 7:30ish so we can meet up. Angie told me you'll be getting in around 5am and NO THANKS don't call me then. We're only a mile away from the convention center - we're basically staying at the airport. What time are you leaving at?- Brian Meissen
