  • adjustable is the only way to degree a cam.
I have never heard that term before?
You can degree a cam with a standard chain.

You degree it to make sure you didn't roll the camshaft when you put the timing chain on.

Not trying to scare ya B but you might want to take the time to check stuff now instead of finding out after it's too late.

              • Oh I know the camshaft is in right and the gears are lined up. I mean, when the timing chain went on the dots were perfect 6 o'clock for the cam gear and 12 o'clock for the crank gear with the cam at #6 TDC.

                  • Yes, turn it.

You can line up your dots all day but if you turned the cam a little to get the bolts in then it's wrong.

The guy down the street from me does motors for Weller and he degree's everything to make sure nothing got moved from a simple rebild 350 to a 572.

                    I'm just saying.....

                    • I'm still trying to figure out how you could roll the cam and still have the dots line up. It would seem like if the cam rolled out of alignment at all that the dots would be misaligned.
