Man B you are going to one busy boy
I did all that polishing stuff too and it helps.
A quick tip on the polishing end:
You should get some auto sand papper, it's black but it does a nice job.
A 180 to break it in then drop down and do a 240 & 380 and she will polish up nice.
Use a little bit of oil, something light weight to help take away the dust and you will be happy with your results.
Doing it by hand will work the best and you can use a .500 or .375 wood dowel with a taper cut on it for sanding.
For polishing I like stuff they call Semi-Chrome, you can get it at any auto parts store.
A little dab will do ya with a nice polishing buff
I have some pics of what I did, I'll see if I can find them???
Good luck!Last edited by Phantom409; January 1st, 2009, 10:37 PM.

Thanks for the tips, Kyle! I think I'm just not cut out for polishing - I don't have the patience.

That I know all too well.
Still no word on the tuition reimbursement from my office. They said 5 business days and then it'd get sent to accounting for a signature. The thing that really ticks me off is that if they stalled and didn't get the check request to the Accounting department until today or after today, then the tuition reimbursement will count for the 2009 calendar year. With a $2,000 limit per year, that means that instead of getting tuition reimbursement for Fall 2008 and then reimbursement for Winter 2009, I'd only get it once and then be maxed out for the rest of 2009.
I think I'm almost 100% that I'm going to skip the port and polish now and down the road I'll just change the heads entirely. That means tomorrow I can start reassembling the heads and maybe even put the cam in.- Brian Meissen

I did my intake, Water pump and it took me about a month.
The bad part was my water pump died a year later
I wasn't doing it again
Make sure you degree your cam.Originally posted by meissen View PostI think I'm almost 100% that I'm going to skip the port and polish now and down the road I'll just change the heads entirely. That means tomorrow I can start reassembling the heads and maybe even put the cam in.
It's better to do it with the heads off the motor IMO.

Brian I think that is a good move. Cam only LT1s are great budget performers. It will be plenty to "keep you happy" during our middle age budget woes, and also give you a chance to start putting together a second engine on that stand, while youre enjoying this oneOriginally posted by meissen View PostI think I'm almost 100% that I'm going to skip the port and polish now and down the road I'll just change the heads entirely. lol, that is exactly why. I am sure that you saw they will be making more, but not until april/mayish. And the price is going up so that he can fix the fitment issue.
