Just a story to tell you Brian....
When putting my motor together, First I installed my heads with no dowel pins in. So I had to take the heads off, install, and put back on. Then I realized I had the wrong head gaskets. (I ordered and installed without thinking and completely forgot to note when ordering that I needed the 6.0l gaskets, not 5.7) So i had to take the heads off AGAIN, change gaskets and reinstall. Then I bolted the intake down with motor in the car and while looking for a wrench I found my knock sensor harness..... DOH! Intake back off to toss that in, haha. If you make a mistake like the o-rings, your not alone in the learning process! I had MANY of those experiences! But in the end, the motor I put together fired up, ran, and made sick power with no issues!

      • Well, we got a lot of work done today!!!

So another "WHOOPS!" moment. We turned the engine upside down and unbolted the oil pump cover to get the spring out. Replaced the spring and put the old spring on the windage tray. Bolted the oil pump cover back down and then moved to put the oil pan on. We put the RTV on the oil pan gasket, put the oil pan gasket in place, then fit the oil pan on. It didn't want to go down all the way so we pulled the oil pan back off. While we were looking at it we realized OOPS! I forgot to grab the stock spring off the windage tray. That's not the reason that the oil pan didn't go down correctly, but thank god it didn't the first time or else I'd have put the whole thing back together and there'd be a spring chillin in the oil pan.

Tomorrow's plan is to get my side of the garage cleaned out entirely, then push Red Alert back into the garage. IT'S GETTING CLOSER!!!!!

The real reason was a full belly. Angie made an awsome supper for us all for valentines day. Best lasagna I have ever had.

                            • Thanks, Kyle!

Yeah, when this is all done I'm going to compile all of my posts into one post aside from the responses or random stuff. That way people can read everything all at once.

                              Big thanks to Shbox's website:

                              http://shbox.com/1/harness.htm

I was able to go through and label all of the connections. I didn't label the injector connections because I felt those were pretty self explanatory since they're already labeled with their numbers. Found that my "Water pump temp sensor" and my "IAT" plugs are completely ripped right off of the harness... just bare wires. So I'll need to find those two plugs... either on ebay or through the dealership I guess.

All in all I'm feeling pretty damn good about this harness - most of what I was labeling I could picture in my head where it went or what the sensor was.

                              • yep the harness really isnt that bad at all. Most of the connectors will only fit in one place anyway!
