Project OT II: The rebirth

Well, The color might end up being black, the interior is going to be pretty much as close to original as possible. The wheels, well, that's up in the air, I have the IROC wheels, but I'm thinking that I'm going a different direction so those might get sold. If I do that it will be for a more "classic" looking wheel.

The 2nd green is closer to the one I saw on ebay but still looks a bit darker than what I saw. It may be the lighting too. If you're selling those IROC wheels I may want to buy/trade you one since one of the spare set I bought has a curb mark on it.

Not that it will do you any good up there. But my Buddy who is restoring a 69 found guy who will media blast the thing for $400. Then a paint guy that will prime paint and assemble (cause its apart like yours) for $2500.00 The paint will be a base coat, clear coat. Probalbly not custom quailty, but a real nice better the factory job.

Little update too. Those valve covers won't work. Pisses me off too because I love the look. Unfortunately for some reason they are old enough that the bolt pattern is just a little different. So they must be pre-71 because the original 1971 LT1 valve covers bolt right up to those heads. So, not sure what will happen there.

That's badass. Sweet for sure. 2 problems though, 1) I don't have a 70-73 RS Z28 so mine won't look quite as good. 2) I want one really bad and that pic doesn't help dammit!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I've seen a couple that way and for a long time (all the years the car sat) that was my plan but now that I've seen a couple I don't like it. It just didn't seem to look right with the longer back window that is at a different angle on the later cars like mine. Plus the spoiler is different and the newer tail lights really don't look right on it to me. Call me a purist.

No it's just the difference between the back end of an actual 70-73 vs the back end of a 78-81. Even a 74-77 would look different because I believe 74 was the year that they changed the angle of the back window and made it longer. I'd rather wait and get an actual 70-73. Just my personal preference.

75 is when they changed to a "wraparound" window. 74 is the only year with the small window and different front and rear. They're the same basic body style so with the correct year panels and some welding you could put the 70-73 style rear and keep the wraparound window. I've been considering this since the 70-73 cars are starting to jump in price. You can pick up late 70's cars for dirt cheap still that need work. Just need to find a solid body to start with.
