Sorry guys, I know you are disappointed, it's been a really rough year, with my dad passing away, problems with the house and my wife losing her job, yesterday we had to take my mom's keys from her and tell her that she isn't going to drive anymore after she got in her 3rd fender bender this year and scared the hell out her friend riding with her (not the first person that will never ride with her again). So I must confess, I've gone through some depression this year and lost the drive and desire the last few months. However, I hope to rectify that soon.Originally posted by DeLaRosa25 View Postany progress as of late?
Nothing actually being done on the car. Still working overtime, which should hopefully get me in a better position after the first of the year to do more to the car.
However, I have found a set of Valve covers I like, very nostalgic I think. These aren't the exact ones but it's what kind they are. What do you guys think?

Also, back to the color discussion, we're now up to 3 colors ahead of some form of Orange which would be 4th on the list. Not in any order of preference at this point, Yellow (maybe with black stripes like the 77 in Transformers, which is where I got the idea), basic glossy Black, or Code 043 Citrus Green, which I love, but looks better on early 2nd Gens than it would on mine I think, I don't see it fitting my "era" or the look of the car. But, who knows. Here's a pic of a early 2nd gen in that color.

citrus green is a B-A color, but i dont see it fitting yours too well - it needs chrome to go with it IMO, and you have a matched bumper. I would only do the bumble bee look if youre gonna go all out, similar to the car you just posted. the reason i say that is because youll need to pull bumble bee off really good if you dont want people to see it as a replica of a piece of crap movie car.
What about glossy black with sunset orange stripes?-Joel

I don't want a movie car replica, just liked the look. The black with sunset orange stripes though intrigues me.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Postcitrus green is a B-A color, but i dont see it fitting yours too well - it needs chrome to go with it IMO, and you have a matched bumper. luv the valve covers - who makes em?
hate the green - the color combo ive always wanted to try though is a wine/burgandy with stealth pewter z-stripes
They are GM valve covers from the 50's I think.
OMG wow, dude you rock. I totally was gonna do that way back when I first tore this apart and completely forgot until now. I even had pictures of one that was a Maroon metallic with black stripes that I found on ebay once. Well, lets add that to the list, and I was going to go with gray stripes. Can't believe not only did I forget about that but you have the same idea!!!
I think we'll table the green until I get my hands on a 70-73 RS Z28.
Lets put the yellow down to #3. I like the black and orange Joel, great idea. The Wine/burgundy and grey/pewter are my #2 now.
Thanks Guys.

Was it like either of these? I don't like the first one at all, and the 2nd one is close to the citrus green, and I don't care for this one, so that's why I am thinking no.Originally posted by GETGONE View PostI've seen a late 2nd gen in a metallic green color. I don't remember the exact name but it was a rare color. It was on ebay earlier this year. I hate that shade of green myself.

What do you guys think of the valve covers? I'm liking them.

Well, my thought is to keep the engine looking very suttle, not flashy and shiny, just a nice clean motor. Polished aluminum and chrome are nice but I'd like to try and do something a little different. Plus, I'm getting them pretty cheap, and its a classic look.Originally posted by kammi10 View Posti kinda like the valve covers but it depends on howu plan on doing the rest of the car. like everything has to play in together
