Ok guy now don't kill me an I have many different questions as this goes on. Okay well I want to do a turbo lt1 an I'm hoping the crank an rods are going to work with a 5-7 psi set up now I know the pistons are not gonna handle it.but I want to use stock heads an go for 9:1. Now the real foward question is what rods an pistons can I go with to reach this

Stock crank, pistons, rods can hold 5 - 7 psi.
Stock crank is stronger than aftermarket cast cranks, must go forged if changing crank.
Its all about the tune.
The real problem with the stock rods are the rod bolts, they stretch. Change them to ARP.
Pistons yeah if you detonate they are gone.
Your profile says you have a 99. Do you mean a LS1?Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!

The 99 is no more I had to sell it
but now I'm going to put together a lt1 car. You think I would benefit from using a set of cast iron heads well for safety? I'm really hoping at times I can push it a little more then 7. Maybe 10psi on occasion. As long as I can still use stock rods an crank I'm good. Now I just have to figure out what pistons will give me what I want

No you don't need cast iron heads.
Where FI and heads come in problems if the head floating from the pressure, good studs prevents that.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!

So the plan here would be a 355ci stock crank an stock rods (arp studs) an dished forged pisons stock heads (ported) head studs instead of bolts.another good question would be what kind of head gasket to runs? An a cc306 is probably not a going to work?

355 with a stock crank and rods with ARP bolts means you are going to bore the block .30 over. Head gasket is going to depend on what what compression you want. So a combination of the pistons, rods, crank, head gasket, cylinder head combustion chamber needs to be taken into account.
Would get a MLS gasket though.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!
