  • Getting ready for the turbo project

I've been doing some shoping. Originally I was going to try to fabricate my own hot parts. However I think it would be alot of extra work. I found this site and was thinking about getting his hot parts and fabricating my own intercooler, and turbo package. Anyone here anything good about this company? I'm new to the turbo world but soon I will be part of the special club . My motor plans will be a budget forged low compression 383 with nothing fancy done to the top end tell money permits. I know that with LS1 motors you can get away with stock heads and forced induction. Does the same hold true for LT1's?

Any recommendations on used turbos? blow off valves and intercoolers? I was thinking a air to water cooler would be easyer and probably more effective on the T/A.

air to air intercooler would be easier for you in my opinion. That is what I usually see on fbodies too.

That kit looks really sharp with all that ceramic coating, me likey

yeah i'm gonna have to agree that an air to air will be easier to fit in there....and everything else looks pretty good!

turbo projects cost some big cheese, but well worth it in the end!

Anyone know how well the stock heads will work on a built bottom end? I know that LSX guys that build up there bottom ends with forced induction don't even bother with the heads. If I do get a set of heads I was thinking that the trick flow heads would be a good head that would work well. I have a feeling that if I go with the turbo setup that I will be bolting it up to the the stock motor in the winter. Then hopefully have the money for a motor build late spring. I think that if I take it easy and keep the boost really low like 5 psi if that is even possible I maybe able to get a few months on the stock motor.

well i'm pretty bias but... but just get a procharger and be done with it... the install was 6 hours! With a 2500 dollar D1sc kit (saw one on cz28.com for this much!!!!) for the LT1, and around 6-8 psi, you'll be happy! Then... you'll want MORE BOOST!!!!!

I know heads in general with FI aren't that big of a deal, but if you're gunna spend 4-5k on a turbo, just spend the extra few hundred for some nice heads. Could always just get an LS1 too!

A2A is easiest by far! But the thing we need to know is, what are your goals. DD? Weekend cruiser/ hitting the track only? what times do you want to pull? how much money do you have? what trans? what rear end!? etc
