  • Will Vic Jr manifold/EFI elbow fit under GM WS6 hood?

It does not look like it will fit but maybe with some fabrication of the hood. Has anyone gotten a single plane under a stock hood?

I was going to definatley sell my FAST if I find something that will fit under the stock hood. What intake were you talking about?

this is what I'm talking about.

It looks like the vic jr will fit with the right elbow from what I've been reading.

I wonder really how bad drivability will be hurt by this. I know how much it will give me up top. But what about low end/ drivability? I hear bad things then I hear it is not so bad. I want to know from somebody with experience with this intake how bad it really is. If it is tollerable I would love to do this with a FAST 4 barrel TB since selling my current intake setup will almost make it a wash for me.

Anybody on here running this setup N/A? I drive the car somewhat a lot. I do not want to Eff up the drivability that bad.

Would a MAF-less speed density tune maybe be better for this application as well?

I have no personal experience and I doubt anyone on here does either but I have heard that low end torque suffers quite a bit on this type of setup. Where is your power dropping off now according to a graph the plastic intakes seem to always drop off around 6500rpms and having a cam that makes peak at 7500 is totally pointless IMO? Also a cam thats spec'd to work well on a fast style intake won't work just as well on a single plain intake.

I would be wiling to change cams. I just want to make sure doing this kind of setup isnt going to make me hate driving my car. Once its on it will be on for a while. I am not sure I want to bite the bullet on this one just yet.

I'd do some research on it for sure but I don't see how driveability would be so different, other than low end torque loss the intake still uses the same sensors and you already have a SD tune with no maf correct?

No I am running off my MAF now. I was hoping to get a retune again come summer and get it on the 02 sensors as well (part of the propane kit) but I am positive this intake setup will require going back to SD.

unless you use an elbow your gonna need a SD tune, no way around it.

Like Jeff said a Vic Jr. will fit under the hood with an elbow if you looking to use a regular TB. Thats not really a good way to go tho because the elbow you need to use to make it fit is restrictive and has distrabution problems.

Using a carb style TB on the other hand would make some power. A 4500 flows a shat load of air. The low end will suffer tho. How much I dont know because I've never had one.

If i wasnt on my cell id post steve40s pics, he had to cut the bottom of the hood and actually part of the cowl, may been due to poly mounts, bc my buddies 99ss it fit no problem with solid mounts.
