  • Supercharger question

does anyone know where to buy a series III 3800 (supercharged) and what would I have to do to drop that engine in my 96 base model v6 camaro?? modifications to anything? and would it be better to throw a supercharger on my engine? or a turbo? IDK

if your talking about the GTP motor you will have to do some extensive clearancing to get it to fit. For the gains its really not worth it (hence why barely anyone has done it successfully). I had a powerdyne supercharger kit that we custom made on my old v6. My brother sold the kits that were based on my car's prototype from his site, www.gvperformance.com If I recall a couple of the kits were up for sale on v6 forums. Do a search on www.fullthrottlev6.com or www.camarov6.com and you will get a wealth on info. Turbos are great as well, in that regard you will probably have to find an entirely custom kit. With any forced induction be prepared to use HP Tuners for tuning or have it tuned. You will also be best off to get some GTP fuel injectors and a fuel pump. (I was maxing out my stock v6 injectors at only 5-7psi)

yikes that was long and its been a long day, If that doesnt make sense I'm sorry, but check out current threads on www.camarov6.com or www.fullthrottlev6.com for a lot of info. This topic has been discussed hundreds of times on those sites.

talk to Inferno. He is working on the l67 supercharger right now in his fbody.

It takes a bunch of custom fabbing and work to make it happen. It is not worth it for the work involved and the little you gain

Centrifical sc is the way to go if you are set on supercharging your car. Otherwise guys are making big power out of turbos on these 3.8s.

All depends on your goals for the car what route you go

i say LT1/LS1 Mod.....Prolly find one of those cheaper than a SC and your car would be faster if you build it up with good parts.

lol I didn't want to say that. I usually get in trouble for that, but yea, I have ZERO regrets to parting out the old supercharged 6 and buying the ls1. For how cheap they are right now ya cant go wrong.
