well you know how my car sounds and my cam is the Thunder Racing 224/224 cam on a 111.8 lsa ..... basically the higher duration you go, and the lower LSA you go the more "nasty" and choppy it will sound....regaurdless with your exhaust you have now sean, your car is gonna sound sick. i can 100% gaurentee that sean from CARS is going to recommend you go with a 114 lsa cam so that it idles smooth!

but yeah drew is right, LS1's can have huge cams and idle just fine. on my car, you hear the added noise in the valvetrain more then the cam's chop itself, but then again...my cam isn't that big

I've heard some pretty fatty bumpsticks sound stock in LSX motors. Pretty crazy stuff.
Maybe you'd be better off getting electric cutouts, Keego. You can sound dirty loud when you want, but cork it up for the daily. Not to mention you'll keep your mileage and not wear on your valvetrain.

Better do full bolt ons first (at least exhaust) to take full advantage of that cam but like many of the guy said you may want to start out with a 224 to 228 style cam at first as its something you'll have to get used to.

that cam won't make good numbers at all without full exhaust Sean, just letting you know so your not dissappointed and it'd be ideal to do the bolt-ons first so there is no need to retune after the cam.

As far as a nasty idle thats something I have big time. 239/239 612/600 with.............109 LSA. It is very driveable surprisely. I drive my car everyday to work and such. I have true duals also. It is very very choppy. I got it from Cam-Motion. They also have the record for the fastest all-motor LS1.

I would not go with a big cam without full bolt-ons at all. On top of that you of course need better springs depending on the cam as well as hardened pushrods and its usually nice to upgrade to a ported LS6 oil pump as well.

you can do it... but it will kill the stock valve train... you will notice a big improvement with a big cam even in a stock motor but you wont feel what it will really do untill you get heads and headers... if you plan on going really big then you better plan on head work... new spings pushrods lifters in some cases pretty much everything... by the end of summer... or its not going to last to long... but if you think you can do that within a few months or so then go for it... you could probably go about 10,000 miles with a 600 or less lift cam before it starts to wear it all out... but its risky... depends on the condition of the parts now
