  • Anybody know a good machinist?

Looking for a good machinist that is looking for some side work. I need to get a new impeller made. I have contacted ATI and they just want to give me a run around and by a newer head unit. this one is a P600B unit and I really like it so if I can get it repaired that would be great!

Good luck with that....that was done on a CNC which cannot be duplicated unless it's fixtured the same way it was when it was cut and the same program is re-run on it.....after, of coarse, it has all been built back up with weld.

Sorry dude but unless you are looking for more isues you better buy a new one

I work in the Tool & Die trade and there is no way you are welding that much on Alum. and retain any integrity

You would most liklly send a chunk through your Charger and have the same or worse.

Not to mention aluminum is one of those metals that gets weaker when it's welded.

No way in hell you can fix that cheap. It would be easier to make from billet stock and start from scratch. You would need bar stock drawing (blue print) A CNC machine and program and a ton of cash . Sorry but you will have to buy a new one.
(you can heat treat aluminum weld t6 or t7 but that part is not practical)

I am making the front fan of a small turbine engine as I am writing this.
Out of aluminum also. A lot more work then some people think.

I am not looking for someone to weld it. I am looking for a machinist to make a new impeller. the old on can be a template I did not think that it would be that hard to do having the old one as a template.

hard when its sheered off, not much of a template.. I know with my old powerdyne they had new impellers on ebay all the time, not sure about your setup though, you should be able to find a new one..

Just look around, you'll find it

To take your impeller and try and creat someting so it can be machined would take hrs and make the 600 look cheep.
