  • Underdrive Pulley?

I was thinking about it, and I want to get an underdrive pulley for my 3.4 V6. Does anyone know where I can find one relatively cheap? I want to try to increase power without destroying my high mileage engine. . .

Yeah I elected not to get any on my 86. I got a high output alt. and the underdrive would be pointless. From what I have heard there is not that much of a hp gain, you just get to say u got undrive pulleys lol

most advertise like 10-15hp on a 25% underdrive thats a small briggs and straton lawnmower.. ha ha might not make a huge diffeance on a v-8 but to an old v-6 like you have its not going to hurt anything.. and now they cost as much if not less than stock... a stock set for the serp kit mattodoom sent me would have been like 75 bucks or more the underdrive was 45 bucks shipped

There was actually a before and after dyno on Thirdgen.org a while back with underdrive pulleys. On a 5.7TPI they netted 14hp. So its a definate increase, maybe not one you'll feel and likely less on your six cyl, but you could expect 5-7 id think.

Well if your gonna build the six up then pick up any parts you can for a good deal, I say buy it. Every pony counts.

Alright, I think I'm going to buy one soon, I just need to get some cash flowing this way. . . . Does it increase gas mileage or anything else like that? I already noticed a bit of a performance increase with my driveshaft swap, mostly in the acceleration, but I usually don't drive faster than 40 around town. . . Never on the highway. Too bad, my car was made for drag racing! lol I'll see what I can find, I'll probably buy one on ebay or something. That's how I save money. . . Got my driveshaft there too. . . . lol Thanks a lot, guys!

The JET Underdrive Pulleys add horsepower by reducing the drag placed on the engine to drive the accessories such as the air conditioning, power steering and water pump. In an effort to increase horsepower the JET Pulleys slow down these accessories to allow the engine to turn with less effort. The JET Pulleys have no adverse effect on the operation of A/C, power steering, charging or cooling systems and installation is simple and straight forward.

That sux that he would need my stock parts before he sends his to me. . . I can't be without a car at all! I'll just buy a short throw shifter and an underdrive pulley kit from EBay and sell the stock peices on there. . . lol I'll let you all know how it turns out! It'll probably still be a few weeks before I can afford to buy anything like that, but when I do, Y'all better watch out! My car can now effectively get out of it's own way! lol
