So I found a thread on a V6 forum where someone mentioned installing an Eaton M90 S/C off a 90's T-bird onto V6 fbody. From what I gather the SC is remote mounted centerfuge style. Do you think this would be done with a 3.8L? Just how much modification will it require? With the increase in boost would I need to rebuild my motor with different internals / components? Just putting the idea out there...

Nice
Those T-bird S/C's make some sick power for Ford's V6. Back in the day, I had an 89 Supercoupe w/ the Supercharged 3.8 w/a 5 spd. At 12 psi, I kept up with my friends 94 T/A GT until about 70mph. A couple of bolt ons to bring it up 15psi and I would been beating him. Only Ford I ever liked b/c it was a nice riding car and had power that people didn't see coming. Shit, I owned 9 different ones from the time I was 17 to 24. They had too many problems so I sold em b4 anything major would go wrong, lol. Damn Ford's. Sorry got off subject.98 Trans Am WS.6
Cam
Heads
Intake
Full exhaust
More mods to come

I thought you were going to build a 355?

LOL! Sorry for the confusion guys!
I am not planning on going SC nor am I planning on building up the V6 that much. In fact the mojority of mods that I bought are simple bolt ons. No in depth stuff. Basically just intake, exhaust, braking, and appearance which is what I want for the car right now, a nice little cruiser with some pep.
I just say those Eaton SCs going on Ebay for like $150 and they offer 40% in HP so I was wondering about them.
I am building a 355. I am going to get the block taken in to the shop the next time I am in Adrian. But that is my long term project. Because of everything involved I am taking my time and doing it right. I am still debating about swapping the 355 into my bird or whether I want to put it into another car, like a 3rd gen. But the way I figure it, I can work on building up the 355 and if a good deal on another car comes along I will pick that up and put the 355 in it and leave my car with a nice peppy little V6.
Thats what is nice about having a spare motor to play with. You can drive your car while you prepare the new motor and once you do that you can swap them. As it turns out though, my Ford guy buddy told me that the Eaton M90 is not a remote mounted SC, it mounts to the top of the motor... No good. So the guy on the other fbody forum is wrong. My buddy owns a turbo Merkur and a turbo '55 Tbird which incidentally is the only factory installed remote mount SC.
But that bears the question, what to do with the V6 if I install the 355 in the bird??? The possibilities are endless and why not pick up a few toys for it while you are waiting.
The 355 will need to be hot tanked, acid dipped, mill balanced, probably honed if not bored and then after all is said and done, I still only have the block prepped. Then comes picking out and earning the cash to pay for the rotating assembly, having the heads redone, buying a new carb, start assembling the motor, figuring out how to make the new carbed motor work with the stock dash electronics, buying more ignition related products, buying a V8 trans, V8 motor mounts ... The list goes on.
As you can see, when I say this 355 is a long term project I mean it as a long term project. I do not plan on seeing a 355 SBC in my car before next year.
However, a buddy of mine just offered to sell me a T3 turbo for $50. Hmmm turbo! My buddy thinks we can get that put together with not too much invested so why not? Right? He says T3s are not built for handling high boost so I don't plan it going crazy with it but it would be fun to say I have a turboed car.
I am just trying to learn whatever I can about this stuff. I have limited means and I am not trying to be the baddest, fastest mofo on the road. I would be just as happy keeping up with the V8 guys, whomping down stangs and ricers. I see good deals on things I like and I can use now or down the road so I pick them up. That is all.Last edited by phoenix_rising; February 12th, 2008, 01:10 PM.

Ahhh, like I said, if you want to build up your v6 go for it. Just didn't see the point in trying to build a 355 and sc your v6 at the same time.

Oh the possibilities are limited, I'd personally sell it as a boat anchor.Originally posted by phoenix_rising View PostBut that bears the question, what to do with the V6 if I install the 355 in the bird??? The possibilities are endless and why not pick up a few toys for it while you are waiting.

Not true...I know a couple people that are running 15+ psi out of a T3...just make sure it has the adjustable waste gate version.Originally posted by phoenix_rising View PostHowever, a buddy of mine just offered to sell me a T3 turbo for $50. For some reason I was thinking transmission. Gotta quit reading these threads before I get confused.
