Waste? What would be a waste is breaking your only rear end and having to park the car until you fix that one or save to buy a 9-inch. If you buy an extra for even $400 and don't end up using it, sell it for for $375 and you just paid cheap insurance.Originally posted by DETROITMUSCLE View Postnah it'd be a complete waste better to use that towards a 12 bolt or 9". Personally I've heard of people breaking them from 2nd to 3rd as well with that kinda power, but thats pretty rare.
You think Larry can wait till the end of next year to unlock 1st and see if it pops? I bet not.

oops my bad I thought he had a six speed, in that case what converter are you running behind the juice? You'll be fine on the rear if you lock out first I bet althought mine has made some nasty noises before launching it hard but never anything after that.Doing less with more

that usually happens on sticks, not autos. mine would probably be more likely to break with 300rwhp (at most), just because my clutch's forgiveness factor is very little. as you know im chirping 4th, so hitting 2nd is quite the grunt. I have to be very careful doing the 1-2 on my DRs because i think if i hit that one hard it would be the last of it.Originally posted by DETROITMUSCLE View Postnah it'd be a complete waste better to use that towards a 12 bolt or 9". larry should be safe if he is not spraying off the line. ... 6 speeds on the other hand, you arent safe to run sticky tires with a stock motor. (stock LS1 clutches will let a rear surive under abuse, but just about nothing else)-Joel

what kind of converter is it and what STR? Usually you want a converter with an anti-balooning plate once you go up past a 150 shot. Its gonna hit hard on the juice though.Doing less with more
