My APS TT Install Thread

The kits are roughtly $5600.00 if I remember correctly. That in my opinion is very reasonable for a twin turbo kit.

We have not installed the kit, but I have been following progess of others that have to see if they are worth carrying. They might be a nice alternative to our custom kits that are a little more expensive.

Have you guys installed these kits before? How much do they run?

And I am at it again. Ordered 18" wheels/tires today. The car is gonna look SWEET when she comes back out of the garage with the twins!!!! If I have the time my monster brakes will be put on the car as well. If not those will go on another weekend.

18x9.5 fronts with 275/35 tires and 18x10.5 rears with 295/35 tires. I can't wait!!!!

Today was more little stuff. Finally got the rest of the exhaust off of the car. Took off all of the heat shields to get to the gas tank. Started some of the cutting to get the intercooler in place. What a chore that was! My arms are killing me from swinging a 5lb sledge reworking a small lip. Removed the starter and relocated the ground wire near it. And last but not least removed the stock exhaust manifolds. I am to the point where I need to have some extra hands for any of the next steps (dropping fuel tank, dropping K-Member, installing turbo manifolds, downpipes). So if anyone is around next week after work, I will be in the garage every night! Enjoy today's edition of the pics!

I think your rear will survive for a while, with the m6, 7 psi, and street tires, all your going to be doing is burning rubber so it shouldnt be too bad. Especially the crappy sidewall of 18s, ill think it'll do all right if you keep the street tires on. Now when you get the rear end and want to hook, i HIGHLY suggest you get the 295/35/18 or 315/30/18 BFG DR's. I have the 275/35/18 BFG DRs and i tell you what, no matter how shitty people say 18's will hook, i friggen dead hook at the track on 18s with twins. Those wheels will look killer as well, car is going to be very nice man!

im not sure if its part of the swap, but change the plugs while you can get to em easy

i pull the wheels on a 10 bolt on 11.5 MT ET streets launching off a foot brake at 3200, im sure youll be ok for a while but that turbo kit looks awsome!

Good to know, but no new tires for a while I hope. We'll see how fast these new ones go up in smoke.... I am VERY excited to see the car with these wheels on it. Should be sweet!

Yeah I have to change from my NGK TR55's to NGK TR6's. Anyone know where I can find these? No local parts stores seem to have the TR6's. I also need some new wires. Broke one when taking off the coil packs. Time for an upgrade! Sponsors?

im not sure if i would like the sound or want it stealth like. i know in my Talon, you could definately hear the turbo spool and the BOV. i think id want to hear it in the firebird too!

Cranked on the car some more tonight. Not a good night for me. Discovered the AIR pump relocation bracket does not fit my particular AIR pump (My pump looks different than the one in the installation manual pics). Also broke my temperature sensor for the intake while swapping that out. DOH! Time to order a new one. Took off the front bumper beam & marked it for trimming, unbolted most of the K-member components in preparation for dropping the K-Member, and trimmed the hood latch bracket. Most of the stuff is prepped for re-assembly now. I need to get some more tools to trim the bumper. My angle grinder is not fine enough to make a clean cut. Anyone that wants to lend a hand let me know. I can use it now for many of the next steps. I am still targeting getting this roadworthy by next Monday. So their may be a thrashing party at my house all weekend!
