  • Thats It! Get er Done!!!

I don't have much cash but I'm painting my car. I called my body man and he quoted me $600 to paint my hood, hatch, and rear bumper. Thats with me doing all the body work and bringing the parts to him to spray them. $600 to spray 3 parts. Grrr. I was tempted to do Maaco but Nick says we can buy the paint supplies for like $400 and do the body work and paint in the driveway. Luckily Nick's dad gave me enough base coat red to do the whole car so all I need is the color coat and clear. Woot for no more Red, White, and Blue bird!!!

$600 isnt that high IMO. I paid $450 for my hood and front bumper with the custom red on the scoop. I really didnt want to spend that money, but the SS hood and fresh paint on the front bumper completely changed the overall look of my car. It looked new again. i did not regret it.

Please don't paint it in the drive way. At least do it in a building where don't have to worry about wind blowing dirt and things into the paint.

You've just got to know people. I had my whole Sonoma painted victory red (after 98+ bumper, SS mirrors, rollpan, shaved tailgate/doors, and a new rocker panel (dont ask...)) and cost me $750. It was my buddies uncle who worked at a body shop for 25+ years and did it in his spare time. I didn't just have those parts painted, I had the whole truck sprayed

exactly, you'll get so much dirt and dust in the paint that way

The cost of paint is crazy.
I found a place where I can get a Gallon of Basecoat and Clear Coat and all the activators and reducers for $170.00 for it all.
And I have had pretty good luck with it so far.

I will buy some more for my next car and see if that works out good as well.

Wish I had those hookups. My total estimate to get my car fixed just went up $900.

I've got a gallon of clear too. We're not painting it in the driveway, we'll be doing the prep work in the driveway, then pulling the car into the garage for the spraying part of the operation. We're going to pick up the rest of the Materials from Toledo today, should be ready for paint very soon!!!

What type of prep work you think you will require?
Scuffing and degreasing, or sanding, filling and primer?
