  • Tire Shine

Not sure if this was posted anytime recently, but didn't get anything on the search. What is the best stuff out there for tire shine?? You know, long lasting, non-browning, ect... Have shyed away from using anything at all the past few years because of junky look after some time, but miss the shiney look.
    Thanks.

I use Armor All's tire shine. It comes in an orange bottle. That stuff is amazing. It doesn't sling off and it will last for a long time - daily driving my car (more opportunity for "slinging") it used to still last a good week.

I like Armor All too, but had bad luck with the "gel" flying all over my fenders. So I've went back to the spray foam. I've had the best results with washing the tire too before spraying the foam.

That has to be great when people go "OMG Armor All?! It dries out your dash plastic!!!!!" "Really? I use it on my tires and they're still fine..."

Lol...I've owned my camaro for like 15-16 years and have used nothing but armor all on my dash...no cracks to date.

Haha yeah - most people are stuck on the old products, Armor All changed their formula years ago so it doesn't dry out the dash. And using it on rubber tires just proves that.

This is the stuff I use, it lasts fairly long (put my car away in september, just got it out, and they still look good), it is not a very high shine, and the brush allows you to get into all the little crevices in the tires. I have also never had any issues with over-spray making the wheels look dull, or any issues with it being slung onto the car.

Nice - I might have to try that sometime. I really like Turtle Wax's ICE family.

I was talking to one of GM's show detailers about this very topic. He told me they wipe their tires clean with mineral spirits before using any type of tire shine. That will stop them from browning. He said if they wanted just a clean black look they would use just mineral spirits. He said if you over use it though it can dry out your tires.
