  • Any convertible safe car washes?

My 92 Camaro Convertible is my daily driver and as such gets dirty very quickly in winter. I do my best to keep it clean, but it's hard to wash it when it's this cold...

Does anyone know if there are any car washes that wouldn't shoot water into my interior? I've driven it through pretty heavy rain without any leaks so as long as the water comes mostly down it's not a problem. My concern is jets that shoot sideways, specifically where the top hinges are, right behind the windows.

I'm not concerned about the paint...the car still has original paint and the nose, deaklid, tonneau cover, and rear bumper all have clearcoat chipping off so it needs to be painted anyways.

I would prefer to take it somewhere that gets the underbody as well...

I live in West Bloomfield, so preferably somewhere around here.

    Thanks!

fwiw I have taken my car through one of those touchless auto washes (once in the winter ) and I just brought a few towels with me in case it leaked. Which it did because they shoot the water straight down with a lot of pressure.

I also use my car as a DD and I like to wash it often, I still get out and hand wash it... The nice thing about the place I go to in the winter time they have the water running very slow so i get the car wet and use the brush to get the salt off of my car.. I then use the high pressure to get anything off of the bottom. I have a problem with water coming in the weather seals. Rain no issue but high pressure wash everytime I get soaked. Now with my back window lose I cannot go into an auto wash at all... I don't know where you can go. I have just do it myself, I know where I can hit the high pressure and where not to hit it.... I just have to say wear gloves and try not to stand in the down wind of the mist. that is what I do...

My Dad makes carwash. It is a formula from our friends/business partners in Australia. They use it in high end touchless car washes over there where there is a water shortage. I use it on my Gf's TBSS and my T/A and I wax my car maybe once a year with 0 swirls. Same with the TBSS. And it leaves a wet like shine w/o removing waxes or adding waxes of any kind. Very weird but works well. It is claimed to be self drying and it will to an extent if the conditions are right and depending on how well you rinse/hardness of your water but you definatley notice it drys way faster if you towel dry it evaporates the water evenly. (almost like a puddle of rubbing alchohol evaporating) Like I said its really weird how it works so well but I religiously use it.

My Dad also makes it by the barrel for all of Warren Fire departments. Look at how shiny their fire engines are next time you see one.

We apply it with a hose end sprayer (like a fertilizer sprayer) and I have been keeping the TB clean all winter spraying the soap on the undercarriage and wheel wells. You can just use it with a bucket like normal carwash soap as well though.

I see you live in West Bloomfield if you like I can get you a little bottle of it to see how it works for you. No charge I was giving away sample bottles to Mifbody members at Dream Cruise. We were backed up with it and I like to spread the joy lol.
