Okay guys/gals.
Here is a pic of the Trizac 3000 sand paper I used
http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/g...001/3m2075.jpg
This sandpaper is pricey @ ~$3.00 per piece. You will need 2 to do your whole car. (you can get these at Autovalue or if your local body shop is nice enough they might sell you some)
It calls for a "hook-it" or also known as velcro sander.....
This is the sander I have been using for over a year now. Its cheap and it gets the job done.

^^^^ that sander DOESN'T come with a hook and loop bottom, it comes with the stick on kind, you will need to buy it at your local automotive paint store (I got mine at Autovalue)
Just for some insurance issues you might want to buy one of these -

It is basically a piece of foam that velcros between your sand paper and you sander, it will flow with the shape of a fender better than just a hard stander, you can cover much more area and are least likely to "burn through" (Autovaule around 15 bucks)
Next is your buffer- The most popular 2 are Makita, and DeWalt, now my dad bought me a Chicago which is harbor freights brand and using all of these buffers they all will give you the same out come, its not the buffer its the user, now I used this buffer on hundreds of cars over a year and well, a year exactly it died on me... So DeWalt has my word for lasting long but if you aren't going to use the buffer everyday go with the Harbor Freight brand....

-Don't use the buffing bonnet thing they give you, use it to check your oil lol. (junk)
This is the cuts and pads I use
-Yellow with Heavy
-Green with Light
-Green or Blue with polish
(pad wise you can get them at your local parts store) Ask them what you should use it for as some colors are for heavy cut for some brands they are light/polish just make sure you know!

^^^ That is the company we buy our products from, they have great products and are very friendly.
** Everything listed is what I personally use and I can vouch for, I'm not trying to turn ANYONE away from the sponsors on here, this is just what I have used. **

Well, the best and quickest advice on a paint job that I can give you is, PREP PREP PREP! Paint is 20% of a paint job 80% is prepping your car.Originally posted by M_Juntti View PostThat looks really good, im about to start painting my camaro as soon as it warms up, do you have any tips? this is my first paint job2002 Z28 Camaro A4

Yup, I have to block my whole car out....probably go 1500 then 2000.
3000 I think is overkill.
When people seen my car last year, it was right out of the gun. It should be even more straight after I get done with it.
But I agree, boy does it take a long time!!!sigpic

Takes all of 10 min to do 3000. Besides I would never wetsand a stock pain job with 1500 or 2000, yours was just repainted but stock no way.Originally posted by tenpin842 View PostYup, I have to block my whole car out....probably go 1500 then 2000.

3000 is definitely not over kill. Not if you want that mirror finish.

Doesn't that just suck?! My Camaro had the same problem, I took the bra off, and not only was it caked with dirt, it was wet (hadn't rained in weeks), and the dirt had scratched the hell out of the paint.Originally posted by Purple94Z28 View PostDamn i soo need to do this to the front of my car...damn the last owner and never taking the leather bra off when washing
Shouldn't take much work to get the scratches out, at least to make it look presentable. My car is past the point of reversing the paint damage with wetsanding and buffing, I am going to start repairing and priming body panels when I get back. lolNick H.
