    let me tell you about nerve racking... I did it on my car today for the first time, and if youve seen my car you know that its black and almost perfect. Ive been doing it at work for a while with no problems, but this is the first time ive had the guts to try it on paint as perfect... and black... as mine lol.

    Well anyway, there was a fairly large scuff on the drivers side front quarter right behind the tire thats been there since i bought it. about 1.5" by 6" in size. i didnt take any before pics, or pics during the process (stupid me) but i did find an old one where you can see 80% of it:

    enjoy. and for the newbies out there, its actually pretty easy to do if you have a rotary buffer to polish the paint back up with.

                  I got some cracking on my front bumper. Could I wet sand these out???

                    cracks will not come out with wet sanding most likely. if you can feel INTO the paint with your fingernail, chances are it isnt gonna come out. There are rare instances (like mine actually) where you can feel the scuff with your fingernail and still get it out... i was just lucky my scuff didnt go through the clear coat, it was awfully close from the looks of it.

                      What do you all think? My redneck crackle finish is pretty realistic huh???

                      Seriously though, What should I do? Try wetsanding? I've already tried buffing it out. My next option is the paint shop.

                        the white you see in the cracks is primer

                        its gotta be redone.

                          The white would actually be wax residue that gets stuck in the cracks. Garaunteed if you were to swap over the cracks with rubbing alcohol the "white lines" would disappear. I'm all too familiar with the spiderweb cracks. To get rid of those, you have to sand all the way through the paint to the bare plastic to really get rid of those cracks... the base coat flexed from the bumper being pushed on and it cracked the paint. If you wet sand you'll even it down, but it'll still be cracked. If you wet sand through the clear coat into the color, it'll look like it's gone but when you clear it, you'll see the lines. You'll have to sand all the way through until you get to bare plastic, and even then you'll have to get paint with flex additive in it or else it'll recrack. That's 100% the reason why I bought a new bumper. I had a lot of spiderweb cracks (plus some tears in the bumper from the previous owner) and every where i went said it'd be cheaper to get a reproduction bumper myself and have them paint that instead of them stripping the bumper down and then repainting.

                              S'all good, Joel, your car's too nice to have those type of cracks, I unfortunately only know from experience, and thats not a good thing.
