  • Kmart Car Clearence

    Here we go again...

Today I picked up the following...

Mother's California Gold Clay Bar $17 Retail. $8 on Clearence.

Purple Power Cleaner / Degreaser Retail $3.50 Clearence $2.50

The following were also a good price...

Ice brand Liquid Clay Bar was like 1/2 price.
    (12) Microfiber cloths for $9.99 compared to the same brand at Murrays $12.99.

I also thought the Bondo body filler was reasonable at $8 for a 1/2 gallon.

    Happy shopping people!

I would jump on it quick. I spotted them and then a few days later when I went back to buy them 70% of the stock was gone! Be quick!

I wouldn't even know where the nearest Kmart is, all of them went out of business over here years ago.

Wow - really? I've got a mild connection to Kmart since the company I used to work for was KMart's advertising company for the newspaper ads. What drove them all out of business? Walmart? Granted, there's not as many over here as there used to be but just surprised to hear that there isn't any over there.

yea, prices were just too low to cover their costs, in late 2004/2005 they had to merge with sears to keep somewhat alive, at that point all of the stores over here went out of business, in fact I believe it was even earlier than that that most of the stores closed over here.

May I add, Kmart filed chapter 11 a few years back. During the bankruptcy the ownership changed hands and the new owner sold off a bunch of Kmart land and properties because Kmart owned most of their stores where as many retailers only rent space from local malls and that.

After selling off all that property, the new owner decided to buy Sears when sears was faltering. This was back in 2006-7 I believe.

So that is why many of the stores disappeared. Corporate restructuring.

I know the story of KMart first hand, I was laid off because of KMart buying Sears and then moving their headquarters from Troy to Chicago, I just meant specifically the GR stores in particular. Most of the KMarts over here are still around so I'm just surprised to hear of them not doing as well in other areas. Probably Walmart moving into the neighborhood made those individual stores lose too much business.
